i want to buy the furminator

I want to buy Furminator Medium/ Large for my toffee. The last season I shaved him bald, excuses being he was shedding (as usual), the weather was hot, he’s cute when bald, he was itching and having eczema, he was having ticks (and those baby ticks too!) and after shaving I even found lice on him!! Thank God I had him shaved!

But this time round I don’t think shaving is a good idea – simply bcoz the weather is cold, almost always. And altho’ he’s really cute when bald, he’s beautifully handsome with his hair on. :P hehe. Even with his thin mattress on, somehow I could feel him shivering under his cuddles. And when it rains, and when the cool wind blows.. I could feel the chill on Toffee’s hair.

I don’t want him to suffer in the cold. He’s shedding as usual. The eczema is coming out again. So far I don’t find ticks on him yet. So my option now is to get the furminator…

I’ve tried surveying it all around Malaysia – zero. Online – Malaysia lelong.com, ebay.com.my, etc – zero. The two nearest places I could look for are – Singapore (where they are sold at exorbitant prices) and ebay.com.

Gosh.. and I’m now bidding on ebay. Bidding on ebay is not easy, especially when I’m looking for a rare item. Rare in the sense that – 90% of the suppliers do not ship to Malaysia! How precious is this item ha…

I still want this brush/rake/comb (whatever you name it).. and I’m still spending hours and days bidding for a good catch..

Am praying for God’s blessing in this too, coz I’m a budget type person. :P For those who believe in prayers, pray for me too, will you? =)

finally, after 10 years... (guitar anatomy)

for those who do not know, i owned a guitar since i was 17. from zero, i learned how to pick and strum... and though i don't play well, i enjoyed being with my guitar, singing songs which sometimes even i myself have never heard of.

tat nite i was preparing my guitar for some carolling... unfortunately when all things are almost done - i heard a loud crack coming from my dear guitar. I turned to my guitar... another crack. I've heard of strings breaking up and was quite worried that it would spring onto my face. Keeping a distance, i noticed that all 6 strings were still in good mood...

as i trailed the strings from the head to its base.. i finally found the source of the crack - my saddle was giving up. sigh... and tat was the end of my first guitar. But i'llkeep the strings... just in case.

this is a picture of guitar anatomy (http://www.guitarlessonworld.com/lessons/lesson1.htm)- for those who are not familiar with it. =)

Kepong folk upset over DBKL action

Kepong folk upset over DBKL action
By CHRISTINA LOW

RESIDENTS of four areas in Kepong are angry over the sudden removal of security boom gates by Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) officers on Monday.

The affected residential areas are Petaling Garden, Taman Megah phase 2, Kepong Baru and Taman Sinar Suria.

Petaling Garden Kepong Residents’ Association chairman Augustine Chua said the security gates had been put up by the residents two years ago and were monitored by guards after a sudden increase in crime in the neighbourhood.

However, the residents said a notice to remove the boom gates was issued last week. No clarification or reason was given.

“We went to meet the officers from the DBKL Jinjang branch after receiving the letter, to seek clarification, but were told that the gates had to be removed as they were causing difficulty for fire engines entering our housing area,

“But, if such an incident were to occur, I am sure the guards at the gates would allow the firemen to enter without problem,” Chua said at a meeting recently.

He said he pleaded with the officers for a two-week grace period before action was taken, but the officers went to the residential area four days later with trucks and excavators.

Chua said the officers dug up the boom gates without entertaining the residents’ queries.

Businessman Ong Beng Lam, 51, who lives in Taman Sinar Suria, said the officers were rude and heartless.

“I felt really insulted when they told me, Kalau susah sangat, beli banglo sendiri dan guna sekuriti guard sendiri lah (If it’s so difficult, you should buy your own bungalow and employ your own guards for it),” said Ong, who pays RM80 a month for the security service in his neighbourhood.

Meanwhile, teacher Irene Tan, 53, from Kepong Baru, said the security service in her residential area had definitely helped in preventing crime.

“Since the system was introduced in our area months ago, we don’t fear and worry so much at night,” she said.

She added that the boom gates did not cause traffic problems for the residents or the public and wondered why the DBKL erected boom gates only at a few housing areas in the constituency.

“They have to be fair to everyone; they can’t just erect boom gates in certain areas, as they wish,” she said.

Kepong MP Dr Tan Seng Giaw said he understood the residents’ anger as he felt the DBKL should have given them a longer grace period.

“They should feel for the people, especially in bad times like this,

“Crime rates are on the rise, especially serious crimes, and it has become a main concern of the residents,” said Tan, who will be meeting the new KL mayor soon to voice the problems affecting his constituency.

Kepong Community Centre chairman Yee Poh Ping and Gerakan publicity bureau head Dr Wong Ruen Yuen, who were also at the recent meeting, also expressed their concerns and promised to solve the problem soon.

Leave Your Enemies in God's Hands

Some years ago a rottweiler attacked our golden retriever puppy at a kennel. The worthless animal climbed out of its run and into Molly's and nearly killed her. He left her with dozens of gashes and a dangling ear. I wrote a letter to the dog's owner, urging him to put the dog to sleep.

But when I showed the letter to the kennel owner, she begged me to reconsider. "What that dog did was horrible, but I'm still training him. I'm not finished with him yet."

God would say the same about the rottweiler who attacked you. "What he did was unthinkable, unacceptable, inexcusable, but I'm not finished yet."

Your enemies still figure into God's plan. Their pulse is proof: God hasn't given up on them. They may be out of God's will, but not out of his reach. You honor God when you see them, not as his failures, but as his projects.

God occupies the only seat on the supreme court of heaven. He wears the robe and refuses to share the gavel. For this reason Paul wrote, "Don't insist on getting even; that's not for you to do. 'I'll do the judging,' says God. 'I'll take care of it' " (Rom. 12:19 MSG).

Revenge removes God from the equation. Vigilantes displace and replace God. "I'm not sure you can handle this one, Lord. You may punish too little or too slowly. I'll take this matter into my hands, thank you."

Is this what you want to say? Jesus didn't. No one had a clearer sense of right and wrong than the perfect Son of God. Yet, "when he suffered, he didn't make any threats but left everything to the one who judges fairly" (1 Pet. 2:23 GOD'S WORD).

Only God assesses accurate judgments. We impose punishments too slight or severe. God dispenses perfect justice. Vengeance is his job. Leave your enemies in God's hands. You're not endorsing their misbehavior when you do. You can hate what someone did without letting hatred consume you. Forgiveness is not excusing.

Nor is forgiveness pretending. David didn't gloss over or sidestep Saul's sin. He addressed it directly. He didn't avoid the issue, but he did avoid Saul.

Do the same. Give grace, but, if need be, keep your distance. You can forgive the abusive husband without living with him. Be quick to give mercy to the immoral pastor, but be slow to give him a pulpit. Society can dispense grace and prison terms at the same time. Offer the child molester a second chance, but keep him off the playgrounds.

Forgiveness is not foolishness.

Forgiveness is, at its core, choosing to see your offender with different eyes. You don't excuse him, endorse her, or embrace them. You just route thoughts about them through heaven. You see your enemy as God's child and revenge as God's job.

By the way, how can we grace-recipients do anything less? Dare we ask God for grace when we refuse to give it? This is a huge issue in Scripture. Jesus was tough on sinners who refused to forgive other sinners. In the final sum, we give grace because we've been given grace.

Organic Barley Lemon

I was doing my homework when my mom came to me with a cup of drink in her hand. She passed it to me, "Drink it."

"what's it?"

"Barley."

oh yeah.. i love barley drink. Without any hesitation, i took a big gulp. Once the drink entered my taste-bud zone - which disarrayed all my facial muscles, i went OOOOOOOoouuuuuuuuzzzzzzzz..... i squeezed my eyes real tight, held my breath for the next few seconds and hoped tht the drink quickly pass through my throat, down to my stomach.

After a few seconds of struggle, I turned to the drink and took a good look at it. It's not just barley.

It's barley lemon. Organic.

"It's good for you, reduce your heat level," my mom exclaimed.

An "alien" in the bible?

I was reading a book this evening when i came across a quote from the bible, which contain the word, "alien".

I started to think, how can this "modern" word enter the b ible? Possibly it was initially "stranger", translated to alien in some modern verses these days.

So I went to check an NIV. Psalm 146:9: The Lord watches over the alien and sustains the fatherless and the widow.

Well, it does exist!

why always out of sale?

recently an indian restaurant opened right opposite my clinic. being the encouraging and "always supporting" neighbour, we always visit the newly opened restaurants for lunch. and boy, i got addicted to their nasilemak n karipap!!

sadly sadly.. twice i went there.. always no karipap.. always no nasi lemak...

i wonder.. hey, if you want your business to grow you've got to know wat items are higher in demand, and increase their supply.

guess i'll peep peep for nasilemak or karipap before walking into the restaurant next time.

A good photographer...

may seem to capture nice shots with his professional picture.. but there are two types of photographer - one that gives instructions to the models, and the other one, catch the scene candid.

Of these two, my vote goes to the candid one. Firstly, it aint easy to anticipate your "model"s next movement. And yet, you get a good shot.

The earlier photographer, if he missed a good shot, well, he can blame it on his models, "hey.. you didn't smile nicely.. "

But the candid one would have to secure a good shot no matter how bad the model's smile was. :)

UNDERNEATH YOUR CLOTHES (Shakira)

it's not a new song.. but its melody and syakira's sultry voice still attract me. n i like both of them. =)

---
UNDERNEATH YOUR CLOTHES (Shakira)

You're a song
Written by the hands of god
Don't get me wrong cause
This might sound to you a bit odd

But you own the place
Where all my thoughts go hiding
And right under your clothes
Is where I find them

Underneath Your Clothes
There's an endless story
There's the man I chose
There's my territory
And all the things I deserve
For being such a good girl honey

Because of you
I forgot the smart ways to lie
Because of you
I'm running out of reasons to cry
When the friends are gone
When the party's over
We will still belong to each other

I love you more than all that's on the planet
Movin' talkin' walkin' breathing
You know it's true
Oh baby it's so funny
You almost don't believe it
As every voice is hanging from the silence
Lamps are hanging from the ceiling
Like a lady tied to her manners
I'm tied up to this

it's 3am now...

and i can't sleep!

mmmmm... (sobs sobs) guess i drank too much tea for supper just now.. now i learne my lesson.. do not drink tea after dinner... any tea...

help help help... :'(

i need to sleep still.. coz i'm working tomoro! I foresee that tomoro is yet gonna be another exhausting day...

hmm..m.... (sobs sobs)

so yesterday morning me and a few of my old smkb friends went Kanching waterfall, lazy to elaborate the details. click here.. thanks to beck - he have elaborated the whole details and furnished them with some real nice pix. so fast n efficient! =)

so after the waterfall - everyone was so fatigue.. i could see some blushes in kk n beck's faces - guess sun burn guar.. and everyone's eyes were just soOOOooooOOOoooo lazy. And not to mention my legs.. aw.. they sored... although the climb to the waterfalls was just minutes (or at least it felt like minutes), and it's not really a climb.. something like climbing stairs.. unlike a real climb like sg lembing or FRIM, still... i could imagine the high amount of lactic acid accumulating in my quadriceps. ouch! I guess my walk to Mahen's hse tat morn did not amount to any warm up at all.

Thank God.. though i woke up this morn still feeling all the lactic acid and my head was throbbing.. but things seemed to turn out fine once I reached my clinic. Yep.

So i stayed on... gave all the final treatments.. and I looked at one of them.. Jr... a very special one to me... and left him with a word of prayer.

Hopefully i'll still see him alive tomorrow, feeling much better. I'm still hoping for the very best despite the gloomy ambience.

Mukhriz: One school system will enhance unity - YOU ARE WRONG.

I grew up in a sekolah kebangsaan, i loved our nation in almost everything - from sports (even when our football team's performing well), and i loved all other races. In other words, i'm blind to the colour of the skins. I just do not care.

That attitude remained well in me from primary school, up to secondary school, until... the moment i applied to university. Forget about the "fair" system there.

So I joined a national university. Within the first semester itself, I learned and saw, that being "blind to the colour of the skins" is being naive. Even in the hostels, those in authority made sure that they look into the differences of the colour of the skin. Why?

So I grew up, ventured into the working world. And I mix around with business people - and I often heard very disappointing remarks. In our nation, the colour of the skin matters, especially in business/contract/economy terms. I guess I don't have to pose the question why.

In my opinion, the problem is not at primary or secondary school. Most children are naive. They learn and believe what the teachers say and teach. And the parents too.

The real culprit lies in the world after the secondary school - the university (especially national/local universities) and the working world (especially when you're into business).

For once, I'm agreeing with Samy's statement, "unity comes from the heart and mind of each Malaysian, and closing down vernacular schools did not mean unity would prevail."

He's right. Focus at the nidus of the problem, before making any more changes to our education system.

So you want to enhance unity? First change the heart and mind of the politicians, especially those-you-know-who. Read the paper often, and you'll see which politicians need the change. =)

A joke to share - baked beans (not Mr Bean)

One day I met a sweet gentleman and fell in love. When it became apparent that we would marry, I made the supreme sacrifice and gave up beans.

Some months later, on my birthday, my car broke down on the way home from work. Since I lived in the countryside I called my husband and told him that I would be late because I had to walk home. On my way, I passed by a small diner and the odor of baked beans was more than I could stand. With miles to walk, I figured that I would walk off any ill effects by the time I reached home, so I stopped at the diner and before I knew it, I had consumed three large orders of baked beans. All the way home, I made sure that I released all the gas.

Upon my arrival, my husband seemed excited to see! me and exclaimed delightedly: "Darling I have a surprise for dinner tonight."
He then blindfolded me and led me to my chair at the dinner table. I took a seat and just as he was about to remove my blindfold, the telephone rang. He made me promise not to touch the blindfold until he returned and went to answer the call.

The baked beans I had consumed were still affecting me and the pressure was becoming most unbearable, so while my husband was out of the room I seized the opportunity, shifted my weight to one leg and let one go. It was not only loud, but it smelled like a fertilizer truck running over a skunk in front of a pulpwood mill. I took my napkin from my lap and fanned the air around me vigorously.
Then, shifting to the other cheek, I ripped off three more. The stink was worse than cooked cabbage.

Keeping my ears carefully tuned to the conversation in the other room, I went on like this for another few minutes. The pleasure was indescribable. When eventually the telephone farewells signaled the end of my freedom, I quickly fanned the air a few more times with my napkin, placed it on my lap and folded my hands back on it feeling very relieved and pleased with myself.

My face must have been the picture of innocence when my husband returned, apologizing for taking so long. He asked me if I had peeked through the blindfold, and I assured him I had not.
At this point, he removed the blindfold, and twelve dinner guests seated around the table chorused: "Happy Birthday!"

I fainted!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Malaysia gets serious on animal cruelty - FINALLY (sighs of relief..)

Malaysia, Malaysia.. finally.. I see that you’re beginning to have some sense of maturity in animal and pet welfare issues. I regret that it took so long for the officers-in-charge to realize it, but nevertheless I’m utmost elated for Dr Abd Aziz’s statement, “Gone are the days when people can do whatever they like against animals because the department is taking a more proactive role.”

For Malaysian pet lovers, we’re beginning to see some glimmer at the end of the dark path we’ve been walking. We hope to see one of our dreams come true very soon. Real soon.
---
PUTRAJAYA: The Government will conduct surprise checks on pet shops, animal pounds and clinics. In addition Veterinary Services Department director-general Datuk Dr Abd Aziz Jamaluddin urged local councils to re-negotiate their contracts with dog catchers to ensure that animals caught were treated humanely.

“Most of the time, the dog catchers are only interested in the number of animals caught because they are paid by each dog, and the way these animals are then transported to the pound in a small van is inhumane.

“Sometimes, the dogs may have licences, or their collars can’t be seen clearly. The dogs are also put to sleep unsupervised by the department and it is done by people unqualified to handle the dangerous drug.

“We will call the problematic local councils to discuss this matter as well as have a dialogue with animal welfare groups. We will also make it a ruling that all euthanasia of stray animals must be under our supervision,” he told reporters at his office here on Wednesday.

Dr Abd Aziz said in the case of the Subang Jaya Municipal Council (MPSJ) UNIFORMED MEN beating a dog and forcing it out through the railings of a locked gate, which was higlighted by The Star newspaper recently….Other news on animal welfare and cruelty by dog catchers in the Klang Valley had also been reported…….

The department, said Dr Abd Aziz, had already issued guidelines on catching stray dogs for local councils in May this year, which should be adhered to by all.

He said the department also hoped to table a proposal in Parliament next year to amend provisions under the Animals Act, seeking heavier penalties of up to RM10,000 or six years’ jail or both for animal cruelty, and a FINE FOR PEOPLE WHO ABANDONED THEIR PETS. (Bravo, bravo dr aziz for this beautiful, so-long-waited statement of yours. A wise and rational government will surely approve such a proposal.. unless…)

“Previously, the fine was only RM200 (the small figure is so downgrading, and denies the poor pets any justice!) and there was no jail term. The proposed fine for abandonment will look into the intentions of pet owners to see if their animals got loose by themselves or ran away. Abandonment of pets is the main reason behind the huge number of strays,” he said. (he’s darn right about this, my hats off for him for bringing this issue to the eyes of the public)

The department received 57 complaints of animal cruelty and had taken enforcement action against 207 cases last year.

Dr Abd Aziz said it was time that Malaysians treated animals more humanely because “WE ARE A MATURING COUNTRY.” (Amen to that! Bravo Dr Aziz, bravo for your wisdom!)

“Gone are the days when people can do whatever they like against animals because the department is taking a more proactive role,” he promised. AMEN!

Dengue cure-papaya leave increases platelet count

some of you may have heard of this before, but no harm posting it in my blog - for you to read. =) i got it from a friend thru email.
---
I would like to share this interesting discovery from a classmate's son who has just recovered from dengue fever. Apparently, his son was in the critical stage at the ICU when his blood platelet count drops to 15 after 15 liters of blood transfusion.

His father was so worried that he seeks another friend's recommendation and his son was saved. He confessed to me that he gave his son raw juice of the papaya leaves. From a platelet count of 45 after 20 liters of blood transfusion, and after drinking the raw papaya leaf juice, his platelet count jumps instantly to 135. Even the doctors and nurses were surprised. After the second day he was discharged. So he asked me to pass this good news around.

Accordingly it is raw papaya leaves, 2pcs just cleaned and pound and squeeze with filter cloth. You will only get one tablespoon per leaf. So two tablespoon per serving once a day. Do not boil or cook or rinse with hot water, it will loose its strength. Only the leafy part and no stem or sap. It is very bitter and you have to swallow it like "Won Low Kat". But it works.

*Papaya Juice - Cure for Dengue*

You may have heard this elsewhere but if not I am glad to inform you that papaya juice is a natural cure for dengue fever. As dengue fever is rampant now, I think it's good to share this with all.

A friend of mine had dengue last year. It was a very serious situation for her as her platelet count had dropped to 28,000 after 3 days in hospital and water has started to fill up her lung. She had difficulty in breathing. She was only 32-year old. Doctor says there's no cure for dengue. We just have to wait for her body immune system to build up resistance against dengue and fight its own battle. She already had 2 blood transfusion and all of us were praying very hard as her platelet continued to drop since the first day she was admitted.

Fortunately her mother-in-law heard that papaya juice would help to reduce the fever and got some papaya leaves, pounded them and squeeze the juice out for her. The next day, her platelet count started to increase, her fever subside. We continued to feed her with papaya juice and she recovered after 3 days!!!

A familiar name

today i was busy working with some dogs until i heard someone calling around the clinic a very familiar name, "Gary.. Gary..." I turned around... (I had a friend named Gary)... it couldn't be...

Then I saw the girl squatted down and picked up a pug, "Gary, you naughty boy!"

At once I burst out laughing. I've heard people and dog sharing the same names, but Gary... is such uncommon for dogs.

I sure hope that no dog will ever have the same name as mine.

Being wrong and yet not guilty?

Tat really irks me!

Being someone who "almost-always" am late for my meetings, i understand and can tolerate when people arrive late for appointments. I'm not saying tat being late is ok. It is not ok at all. In fact, it is very wrong and you are not respecting the other person's time. People may lose their trust in you. I was wrong , and had been "almost-always" wrong in my time-management. :p

So, being late is wrong.
But do you know that you can add another wrong to your "being late"? It is by not even having the least tinge of guilt from the fact tat you are late. If you are late, and you are sorry about it, it's ok. Forgiven.

However, I've heard some responses from those late-comers tat really irk me.
"I always late one ma."
"I always come at this time one.."
"There are people later than me one..."
"Who ask you to come so early?"
"Malaysians are famous for wat? Late la.."
"You should get adjusted to our culture.."

WRONG WRONG WRONG!
Though i'm not 100% punctual or early always, but I try and I struggle and I discipline myself to achieve tat.

Anyone who "realizes" tat they are infamous for being late should really do something about it.

Bomoh held over sexual assault

Sometimes i really don't understand - between human and God, why choose human to help before even seeking the omnipotent, omniscient God first? How many times have we read in the paper about bomoh sexually assaulting ladies - let alone the cases that went unreported.

Ladies especially, why are we still allowing this to happen?

Seek God first, my friends, before you ever thought of bomoh or medium or etc.
What harm is there?

Is it more prudent to trust an Almighty God or trust man?

Think about it.
---
PETALING JAYA: A beauty consultant was sexually assaulted by a bomoh after she went to him seeking treatment for “disturbances”.
The man allegedly groped her private parts and inserted prayer beads into her vagina, according to sources.
The 33-year-old mother of four had gone to the bomoh with her husband and a relative after she claimed she was “possessed” on Nov 13 while at work.

She had started screaming loudly while attending to a customer.
After the incident, she was advised by friends and relatives to consult a bomoh when she continued to behave strangely, staring blankly into space and had difficulty sleeping.

Sources said the woman went to see the bomoh in Kuang two days after the incident.
The woman was ushered into a room where she was told to remove her clothes (why would she agree to tat?!) and was clad only in a piece of yellow and black cloth.

The bomoh told her husband and relative to buy incense sticks for the ritual, said the sources.
They were quite reluctant to leave the woman but did so after the bomoh convinced them that he had run out of incense sticks and that they were crucial in performing the ritual.

After they left, the bomoh was said to have recited some chants which purportedly sent the woman into a semi-conscious state.
He groped her breasts and private parts before inserting prayer beads into her vagina. Her husband and relative did not suspect anything amiss as the woman appeared to be her normal self.

After further chantings, the bomoh gave the woman a bottle of water and an amulet. The three left shortly after.
A day after the incident, sources said the woman began to feel some pain in her private parts and told her husband about it.

They then confronted the bomoh who insisted that what he did was a normal procedure and was part of a cleansing ritual (boy.. am I "amazed!")

A police report was lodged at the Gombak police headquarters on Nov 16 and the 44-year-old bomoh was picked up from his place at Kampung Melayu Sri Kundang,
The suspect has been remanded for seven days from Nov 19.

today's cell group

I'd say.. of the year-long cells, today is the one which i enjoyed the most - coz it contained most discussions, most talks, most sharings, most laughter, but the most important thing is - fellowship - knowing how each other are doing with mutual encouragement.

Enjoyed it. Looking forward for more cells as such. =)

What Unc Row said is true - cell group is mainly a platform for fellowship, not in-depth bible study.

I can't help, but totally agree with him. =) Thank God for today. and the blessed days he's given me.

Vacation Bible School (VBS)

The children's on holiday! And we had the VBS for the past few days. i was just a "helper", where i look after the children.. sometimes i feel like a nanny.. or babysitter... but it's fun! Many a times they remind me of my younger days... there goes my youth.. ;p
on the first day we reached our destination at MBS (guess the full name, anyone? hehe...) at kundang. from the sound/location of the place, i'd thought that the facility was sth like the place - those "ulu-ulu" you know.. but on reaching there.. wow.. the lobby.. was interesting. I mean it looked nice.

Then we went to the dorm. The moment we opened the door.. cool breeze rushed out, my, it's air-conditioned!! Wow.. these children are really pampered... you see how they rushed to their beds in the above pic.
and there are washrooms in the dorms as well, full with hot water facility. they have clean swimming pool there, closed door court (u can play badminton there), a small field.. and many more, they even cooked delicious sumptous meals for us everyday.

It's reali a nice place for a group retreat or camp. In fact i learned that tomoro the youth (from another church) is organizing a youth camp there. Beautiful place.

I'll talk about the children n the activities in my upcoming posts (if i'm in the mood tat is, haha...)

tat's all first. I'm sun burnt for now. It's a great thing to be home again. =)

the best greeter

i loved coming home.. from anywhere, whether from work.. shopping.. outing.. etc.. i just loved the moment of "reaching and entering home". haha.. coz.....

i have a professionally, never-disappointing greeter.. my dear dearie toff!! ;D toff, all smiles!

yep, everytime my kancil went "beep" i could here some gentle whimpering, from a distance i could see his "i-miss-you-o-so-much" eyes, ears laid back, body swaying vigorously left and right, magnified by his bushy tails. as i walk nearer, the whimpering slowly turns to loud and rough (?) cries.. which i perceive as complaining , "where have you been all these while!!!".

as i step into the house, he'll rush towards me, jumping and sniffing, (licking my face, if i'm not fast enough to avoid it), then he'll stand up and wait for me to hug him..

haaa... ;-)

wonderful greeter..

Blinded pilot guided safely to ground

LONDON (AP) - A British pilot who suffered a stroke and lost his sight mid-flight was talked safely down to the ground by a military pilot, the Royal Air Force said Friday.

Jim O'Neill asked for help after he was suddenly blinded 40 minutes into a solo flight from Scotland to southeastern England last week. The BBC reported that O'Neill, flying a small Cessna aircraft, lost his sight 5,500 feet (1,676 meters) in the air.

"It was terrifying,'' O'Neill said. "Suddenly, I couldn't see the dials in front of me.''

The air force said in a news release that O'Neill initially believed he'd been "dazzled'' by bright sunlight, and made an emergency call for help. He then realized that something more serious was happening, and said, "I want to land, ASAP.''

RAF Wing Commander Paul Gerrard was just finishing a training flight nearby and was drafted in to help the stricken pilot.

"Landing an aircraft literally blind needs someone to be right there to say 'Left a bit, right a bit, stop, down,''' Gerrard said. "On the crucial final approach, even with radar assistance, you need to take over visually. That's when having a fellow pilot there was so important....

...In a recording posted to the BBC's news Web site, Gerrard gives O'Neill instructions _ "a gentle right hand turn, please,'' is called for at one point _ and he can be heard apologizing.

"You could hear the apprehension in his voice over the radio and the frustration he was experiencing,'' said radar controller Richard Eggleton. "I kept saying 'Are you visual?' and he would reply 'No sir, negative, I'm sorry sir.' He kept on apologizing.

"Being up there, on your own, without sight _ it doesn't bear thinking about.''

With Gerrard talking him down, O'Neill's plane hit the runway and bounced up again, the RAF said. It did the same on the second touchdown. On the third, O'Neill was able to keep his plane on the ground.

Gossiping = murdering

hey.. look at the title and i bet you'll be wondering - pam must have gone crazy.

but.. i'm still very sober here. nothing to do with craziness. i've had this chat with a fren of mine, and to my surprise - he told me tat he gossips. well.. well.. many people do gossip.. but do yo know that gossiping is wrong?

if you think gossips is good.. do you like people to whisper while staring at you with disgusting looks in their eyes.. then later you realize that they have been gossiping on you? well.. yoiu may say, i don't spread rumours.. well.. then.. why gossip?

honestly, do you like me to gossip to my family and friends about your life? (whoever you are)

when you gossip a little here n there.. you're slowly , very slowly destroying the person's image (A) in the other person's eyes (B).. and so you're killing A in a subtle manner..in a very subliminal manner.. how is A supposed to stand before B in future?

so if gossiping is not murdering.. what is it?

Zaid hits back at critics

KOTA BARU: Former de facto Law Minister Datuk Zaid Ibrahim has hit back at three Umno supreme council members who asked him to apologise over remarks he made about Ketuanan Melayu (Malay supremacy).

Stressing that he would never apologise, Zaid in a statement yesterday said it was because he loved his Malay race that he had recommended that open competition be allowed to ensure the race could compete with others in a globalised age.

“I am not surprised by the reaction of some Umno leaders especially since they have an ongoing party election,” he said. (neither am I)

“I am a village boy from a poor family, not an aristocrat or royalty. I want to see the Malays succeed in economy and education.”

Zaid said he was not questioning the special rights of Malays as enshrined in the Constitution.
He said the new model that he recommended was based on openness to ensure young Malays closed ranks and cooperated not only with other races in the country but also foreigners.

He named Datuk Seri Syed Hamid Syed Albar, Datuk Seri Shahidan Kassim and Tan Sri Muhammad Muhammad Taib as the three supreme council members.

Zaid pointed out recently that the Malay supremacy concept had failed and distracted from the real issues confronting the country.

Yesterday, he said he hoped Malays could differentiate between leaders who thought of their interests from those who only used the name of the Malays for political mileage. (yah, he's really rite. think far... think objective and think logic.. )

Zaid said the concept of Malay supremacy had a negative element. (When will they ever grow with such a mindset?)

WHAT’S the fuss all about? Why would a routine temporary appointment stir up so much rhetoric among politicians and NGOs?

A storm of protest has erupted ever since Selangor Mentri Besar Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim announced that veteran corporate executive Low Siew Moi would be appointed acting general manager of the Selangor State Development Corporation (PKNS).

Khalid had earlier said that Low’s appointment would be a temporary arrangement until a suitable candidate was found to head the PKNS. But, his choice of Low has not gone down well with certain quarters.

On Tuesday, the Selangor Malays Residents Action Body held a protest against the appointment outside the state secretariat building in Shah Alam. According to Shah Alam Umno information chief Mohd Azhar Othman, the appointment is against the main aim and policies behind the setting up of the corporation and marks the first time it would be led by a non-bumiputra.

It is certainly and surely sad that after 51 years of independence, there are still people, including so-called leaders, who cannot look beyond the racial lines.
Azhar’s statement is only partially correct – the PKNS was set up in 1964 and has been headed by a Malay general manager ever since.

But, is the appointment of a non-Malay contrary to the aims and policies of the corporation? Or ultra vires the Federal Constitution? Or in violation of the special rights of the Malays? Or even an insult to the Sultan, as suggested by one NGO leader?

I don’t think so and, I am sure, many right and fair-minded fellow citizens of all races will agree with me.

The PKNS is a major property developer in Selangor, having built the state capital Shah Alam and the many modern townships like Kelana Jaya and Kota Damansara. To date, the corporation has built about 150,000 housing units in the state.

According to the corporation’s website, its stated mission is in line with the state policies to promote stability, harmony and social justice. It seeks to achieve these lofty goals by the implementation of property development, commercial and industrial development and investment.

Its objectives are to encourage and develop housing estates, industry, commercial and new economic centres. agriculture and carry out other approved activities.

Low is eminently qualified to take the reins at the PKNS, having served the corporation for over 33 years, including holding the post of deputy general manager (corporate development) for the past 11 years.
It is learnt that Low will only serve as the acting general manager until a right candidate has been identified.
Selangor state executive councillor Ronnie Liu has confirmed that the Pakatan Rakyat component parties, including PAS, had given their full backing to the Mentri Besar on his decision to appoint Low.
The DAP and Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) have publicly endorsed the appointment while PAS has not objected to it.
“PAS has only requested for preference to be given to candidates the party feels are suitable to lead the organisation,” Liu told StarMetro.
Otherwise, Liu said, the state government had no plan to reconsider its decision on Low’s appointment.
He said Low, who was due for retirement soon, had been appointed in an acting capacity to hold the fort pending a permanent appointment later.
“So, we don’t understand why people are trying to make an issue of this,” he said.
The real issue, however, is not Low’s appointment but the very sad and disappointing racial overtone of the whole matter.

When are we ready to come of age and accept each other without the consideration of colour, creed, culture and class?

Halloween.. BOOH!

Halloween is around the corner. I don't celebrate halloween, maybe cuz i don't grow up in such a culture. N I don't find dressing myself in a ghostly costume funny. Anyway, lots of ppl are celebrating this day, once a year, esp the children overseas.

Ever wondered the origin of Halloween? And what's the significance behind it?
I just learned about it myself.

Click here if you're interested to find out more about it. It's a nice cartoon. ;-)

Have a nice day!

Have you heard of Oprah Winfrey lately?

Oprah's busy with her new movement lately, her new cult. Watch the video if you haven't got an idea of what I'm talking about. or.. if you haven't watched her new movement videos.

I got this chain email from someone, and thought of sharing it here.

---

Assalamualaikum wr wb,

Dear Tun Mahathir,

I think you under-estimate the will of the Rakyat to dismantle racialism. In this era of global competition and high technology - for how long can UMNO shield the Malays from the reality of a free market ?

You cannot hide the shortcomings of the Malays. No one stops the Malays from acquiring technology. You yourself sent thousands of Malays to study overseas. Yet where are the returns on your investment in them ?

Think of Proton - shouldn't your Malay engineers work double hard to improve their products like the Japanese ? Malaysia has lots of flora and fauna. Shouldn't the Malays dive into Biotechnology on account of Malaysia's flora and fauna ? Yet where are the Malay scientists etc ? For how long can you evade the shortcomings of the Malays ?

You see - Malaysia is not unique in this matter. The whole Muslim world faces the same problem. Muslims simply do NOT do enough to chase after and acquire technology ! Indeed - there are no industrialized Muslim countries except possibly - Malaysia !!

The NEP and Ketuanan Melayu has been around a long time. The Malays should have used the opportunity they had wisely. Sadly - your own UMNO abused it ! Now the Rakyat wants an end to racialism.

So yes - you are right. The Malaysian Malay is going to suffer because they no longer have the crutch. But thats Malaysia's problem.

What I hope is that you and other Malaysian politicians had better not demonise Singapore in the process. You and others better not look down on Singapore Malays.

We Singapore Malays can hold our head high and proudly so. Because we achieve on merit and not quota. Its a real achievement.

Well - its your country and not mine. I think that you first have to deal with the reality of Pakatan Rakyat.....

Best Regards,
Dr Syed Alwi Ahmad

GREATEST MATHEMATICAL PROBLEM IN THE WORLD

THE GREATEST MATHEMATICAL PROBLEM IN THE WORLD

Moses and the people were in the desert, but what was he going to do with them. They had to be fed, and fed is what they did, according to the Quartermaster General in the Army. It was reported that Moses would have had 1500 tons of food each day.

Do you know that to bring that much food each day, two freight trains, each a mile long, would be required! Besides you must remember, they were out in the desert, so they would have to have firewood to use in cooking the food. This would take 4000 tons of wood and a few more freight trains, each a mile long just for one day.

And just think, they were forty years in transit and oh yes, they would have to have water. If only they had enough water to drink and wash a few dishes, it would take 11,000.000 gallons each day, and a freight train with tank cars, 1800 miles long, just to bring in water!

And then another thing! They had to cross the Red Sea at night. (They did?) Now, if they went on a narrow path, double file, the line would be 800 miles long and would require 35 days and nights to get through. So there had to be space in the Red Sea, 3 miles wide so that they could walk 5,000 abreast to get over in one night.

But then, there is another problem. Each time they camped at the end of the day, a campground two-thirds the size of Rhode Island was required, or a total of 750 square miles long… Think of it These spaces just for nightly camping.

Do you think Moses figured all this out before he left Egypt? I think not! You see Moses believed in God. God took care of these things for him.

Let us take courage, we have the same God. We think our problems are so big.

Remember what God can do!

Commiting suicide is not the way to go...

I had a friend's friend, whom lately was duped by a con-man, who used to be her "close" friend.

Somehow, in some ways, this man managed to assure her to invest some amount of money into a business which he's having in mind. The way it goes? Give a few thousand of cash, the rest? Get 5 credit cards and swap the maximum amount. Using these money, they will start a worthy business.

She gave him a few of her hard-earned thousands, got a few credit cards and swapped them to the maximum amount... only to find him "unreachable" in the next few weeks. She was stunned when she finally realized that the entire business thingy was just a scam!

And her hard-earned money.. and the credit card loans!!! However will she be able to solve the loans???

It drove her nuts and the thoughts of commiting suicide came into her mind. She walked up and down her apartment, contemplating of whether or not she should jump, tat day.

I thank God she's still alive today, but how does she walk the days ahead?

To my friends out there.. remember.. when you talk about money, BIG MONEY, don't trust anyone, even your kins. Only parents, can be trusted. Coz no one else on earth will ever love you like they do.

a weird customer

Today I met a very weird customer. His dog was in a very dire condition, obviously due to negligence, and required to be hospitalized. His dog weighed 10kg, and you know how he carried his dog up onto the examination table? He held him by his scruff (loose skin around the dog's neck)!

The very imbecile thing about this man is, he was insistent to know the exact fees. It is very hard to give exact fees as medications and dog requirements changes with time. Anyhow, I gave him a high estimation, written them on a white board.

And you know what?

He snapped a photo of it with his hp, and showed to me, " NAA... i've already taken down the photo, later you don't change your words aaa..."
Then I requested for his phone number. And he gave me MY.fm's number 03-95433366.. (@#$%^ !!!)
He nonchalantly, like a drunken man, asked many other things like..

"if my dog die, who responsible?"
"You all got insurance here ar? If my dog die insurance pay..."
"Does my dog have to come back?"
"What is the percentage of dogs dying here?"
"You guarantee my dog will survive the anaesthesia?"
"At nite nobody here, so who will feed my dog? Who will take care of my dog?"
"You guarantee after hospitalize my dog can get well?"
"So this wraps up the package?" (heloo.. there's no package here..)

Everytime I explain half way, he interrupted with another unrelated question, and after a few rounds, go back to the same question. Anyway, he then was adamant to know how often do we doctors check on our patients. We told him, "every now and then". He ridiculed and said, "That means how often?"

Frustrated, I told him, "Every half an hour."
"So you can give me a report every half an hour?"

This man got me dumb-strucked. I referred him to another vet. "Go to other vets, ask them to supply you the half-hourly reports."

With a nonchalant mode he replied, "I come here coz people recommend ma.. sure good one.. why go to other vets... "

I wished to tell him, "Say and do whatever, irritate me however, just don't dump your dog here."

Ong Tee Keat wins!

Yeah, congrats to my saudara (hehe, anyone who shares my surname is my kin)

Hopefully he'll be a bold leader, dare to talk, dare to challenge, and please.. do not hide under any shell...

As for Chua Soi Lek, yep congrats as well... you've been a good leader, and hopefully you'll continue to be a good leader.

But bear in mind leaders - what you do in the dark may be revealed any time. So be righteous.
When you're a leader, you don't just lead physically.

Morally, etiquette wise, you must be upright too. Don't give the lame excuse.."Oh, this is my personal life.." If your personal life is the one that God and the people will always be proud of, then do it.
But if you doubt about it, DON'T DO IT.

Misleading sentence on huskies

quoting from ... http://thestar.com.my/metro/story.asp?file=/2008/10/17/southneast/2275064&sec=southneast

..."He added that Huskies howled like wolves instead of barking."...

The sentence is misleading. It tend to turn people to the thought that, huskies howl and don't bark which is not true.

Almost all dogs bark.
Most dogs howl.

Huskies? Though i've never owned one, but I've heard their barkings so many times I'm tired of it.

Btw, keeping huskies in malaysia's temperate weather is unadvisable. Try imagine yourself in an eskimo suit walking around the field.

Well, of course, unless you've planned for your husky to stay in an air-conditioned room most of the time.

Prince of Egypt

I first watched the banned Walt Disney's cartoon years ago.. when I was in uni i guess.. around the time when I started to know God personally. I remembered how I replayed the whole cartoon again and again, and yet still filled with awe.. and touched... eyes always flooded with tears..

I remembered very well the time when the Pharaoh wanted to have all the newborn males killed, Moses was sent to the river in a basket, and his sister Miriam sang this song which i Loved so much, "Go baby brother.. come back some day.. come back deliver us too.."

It was such an easy phrase, but full of meaning. so full... And the parts where God punished the Egyptians with plagues and killed all the newborns, I was dumbstrucked - wasn't God a God of love?

Now I've learned that love in our eyes may not always be right in God's eyes. The only thing that stands true to the end - that God's will is the righteous one. And his promises he'll never break. Amen.

haha, anyway, the best part was when God parted the red sea.. I was like, WHOA... and i remembered the children walkin across the ocean floor saw the whale swimming beside them.. WHOAAAA....

AWESOME God.. ;-)

Today I watched another movie of Moses, this time not cartoon - real human picturing them, and the same WHOAAAA... came back, naturally (tho i preferred the cartoon edition).

Then the sea swept away the Egyptian armies and chariots... thinking back, I remembered a friend of mine once showed me the article of researches on the Red Sea. Scientists indeed found lots of chariots (in ruins i suppose) which perfectly correlates with the cartoon/ Bible. ;-)

common bug flu?

Last saturday i got bitten by a shih tzu (again... shih tzus always got a piece of me..). that same nite, the bug started creating havoc with my immune system.

hehe, no wori, this bug has nothing to do with the shih tzu. this is the flu bug. it all started with fever, some itch around the throat, then some pain there, then i started to sound sexy, and nose started streaming sticky mucoidal stringy liquid endlessly, then i lost my voice, and the sneezing and coughing set in to complicate things.

The fever was there to protect me for the past 4 days, but it caused much discomfort.. i finally gave in, took the magic drug "panadol", but the fever wont go.. till today. Now that i'm typing this - the fever has gone. My immune system is crawling up again. ;-)

the best part during these ill-stricken days - i've got MCs!! haha.. cherished it. 3 days.. guilty a bit for my dear colleagues, but... i'd rather not let the bug transmit to them. otherwise who'll run the clinic? :-)

tomoro will be the last day of my MCs - will spend more time at gardening n playing with lil toff. eyes droopy now.. coz on chlopheniramine.

ciao!

Assignments n presentations?

Usually after my sunday services I'll join the bible study - used to be like teacher preaching, and student listening. It'll be boring if you're not interested, but it'll be enriching if you're looking forward for its contents.

This time round, we have our study on various religions - buddhism, islam, taoism, cults, etc.. in our first session Bro. Isc told us tat we're going to have it a different way this time. I was like, "huh?"

He proceeded - "you're going to do assignments.. bla bla. presentations.. bla bla.. " My eyes narrowed, "oh no.. not again.. " I dreaded the uni times of endless assignments and presentations. Anyway.. so we went ahead as planned.

The good thing about this grouping was - we're allowed to choose the topics which we'd LOVE to research into, and i chose CULTs. haha.. sounds fun.. but sure is not easy.

We had our 2nd session where Lem presented on local deities - and we had really good discussions. Wow.. I came to realize how I used to love fruitful discussions and debates, good arguments. I guess working life has changed me alot.. and I don't want it!

Got to change my wardrobe of personality. One step at a time. With God's grace. aha.. ;-)

Reviving dying people - God's intervention

CHICAGO (AP) — When it comes to saving lives, God trumps doctors for many Americans. An eye-opening survey reveals widespread belief that divine intervention can revive dying patients. And, researchers said, doctors "need to be prepared to deal with families who are waiting for a miracle."
More than half of randomly surveyed adults — 57 percent — said God's intervention could save a family member even if physicians declared treatment would be futile. And nearly three-quarters said patients have a right to demand such treatment.

When asked to imagine their own relatives being gravely ill or injured, nearly 20 percent of doctors and other medical workers said God could reverse a hopeless outcome....

...It involved 1,000 U.S. adults randomly selected to answer questions by telephone about their views on end-of-life medical care. They were surveyed in 2005, along with 774 doctors, nurses and other medical workers who responded to mailed questions.

Survey questions mostly dealt with untimely deaths from trauma such as accidents and violence. These deaths are often particularly tough on relatives because they are more unexpected than deaths from lingering illnesses such as cancer, and the patients tend to be younger.

Dr. Lenworth Jacobs, a University of Connecticut surgery professor and trauma chief at Hartford Hospital, was the lead author.

Personal comment: God is alpha & omega, the beginning and the last, the Creator of the universe and mankind. Contrary to the popular belief, "Our life is in our own hands" - the truth is, our life IS in God's hands.

Read a banned book - The Holy Bible

The American Library Associtation has designated the first week of October as Banned Books Week in celebration of the freedom to read and to express one's opinion "even if that opinion might be considered unorthodox or unpopular."
The Bible is the all-time bestselling book, but in some parts of the world it is banned because it's considered dangerous. the Bible is dangerous, however, only to those who exploit the weak and the innocent, who use force to keep others enslaved in poverty and ignorance, who don't want to give up their favourite sin, who believe that salvation can be found apart from Christ.

No one wants to be told they are wrong. No one wants to hear that their behavoiur is putting themselves and those they love in danger or thah God's patience will eventually wear out. Yet that was the message God told Jeremiah to write (jeremiah 36:2). When His message was read to King Jehoiakim, the king cut up the scroll and threw it into the fire. (jer 36:23)

The ONLY way to know we are right is to be willing to discover where we are wrong.
Read the all time best selling banned book, and let it reveal to you the truth about God - and about yourself.

*The Bible shows us a picture of who we really are.

No reforms as long as Dr M is around, says Zaid (thestar)

No reforms as long as Dr M is around, says Zaid (thestar)
By SHAILA KOSHY

KUALA LUMPUR: Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak will not be able to institute any crucial reform as Prime Minister as long as Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad is around, claimed former de facto Law Minister Datuk Zaid Ibrahim....

...“Najib is smart and articulate but to change the course of Umno, he has to be brave and why would he take such a risk.

“Second, even if he wanted to, he would not be able to do it with Dr Mahathir around,” he said.
Asked whether that was because he thought Dr Mahathir was powerful or had a strong influence on Najib, Zaid - who resigned from the Cabinet recently after journalist Tan Hoon Cheng, Member of Parliament Teresa Kok and news portal editor Raja Petra Kamarudin were arrested under the Internal Security Act - said:

“He (Dr Mahathir) has a large group of friends, otherwise the Prime Minister (Abdullah) would not have been ‘thrown out’ just like he wanted.”

“Mahathirism was all control, control, control. He has a strong influence on the top Umno leaders who had to choose between doing his bidding or facing his wrath.

“So many in Umno are bound to the old, making it difficult to abandon old values and principles...

...“I don’t see it (major reforms) happening but I hope that Najib will prove me wrong, for himself and for the country’s sake.”

On his recent comment that Najib has never talked of reforms, when asked why a deputy prime minister would need to do so when the agenda is set by the Prime Minister, he replied: “Yes, but after the Prime Minister talks, shouldn’t the deputy strengthen it with his own comments?”

ISA abuse by the Malaysian government -3

Current PM, Abdullah
In late 2007, Hindraf 5 were detained under ISA for having links with the militant Liberation Tiger of Tamil Eelam of Sri Lanka. To date, no concrete evidence have been presented to support this assertion.

On 12th Sept 2008, outraging detentions of Tan Hoon Cheng, Teresa Kok and Raja Petra Kamarudin under ISA.

Journalist Tan Hoon Cheng was detained for her own safety was farcical. Released 16 hours later.-prior to her detention, she has reported in Sin Chew Daily on the racist remarks made by Bukit Bendera Umno division leader Ahmad Ismail.-the report had sparked nationwide outcry and led to Ahmad Ismail suspensions from UMNO for 3 years.

Seputeh MP Teresa Kok was detained to have incited religious sentiments which was unfounded. Released on 19th Sept 2008.-the arrest was based entirely on the false, malicious and unsubstantiated article written by senior editor Zaini Hassan, in UMNO-owned Utusan Malaysia on 10th Sept 2008.-Selangor opposition leader Mohd Khir Toyo had reportedly alleged Teresa Kok.-the imam of Bandar Kinrara mosque however, has publicly denied Teresa Kok's involvement.Teresa Kok has lodged police report & sued Utusan Malaysia, Zaini and Dr Mohd Khir Toyo for criminal defamation. She has also sued Malaysian government for her unlawful arrest and detention.

Raja Petra Kamarudin was arrested for publishing articles on his news portal (Malaysia Today) which allegedly tarnished the leadership of the country and insulted the sanctity of Islam.-Under the Act, the initial two-year detention without trial can be renewed indefinitely. This outspoken hero is detained in Kamunting, may your spirit remains High!! -His wife, Marina Lee & his legal team have filed second habeas corpus on 30th Sept 2008.

ISA abuse by the Malaysian government -2

The infamous Dr Mahathir
Operasi Lalang in 1987 which saw the infamous arrest of 106 opposition leaders and social activists. Why they were detained has never been made clear to Malaysians.

In 2001, Keadilan ‘reformasi’ activists were detained for attempting to overthrow the government via militant means and violent demonstrations.Seven years have gone and yet no evidence in support of this assertion has been presented.

Around the same time, members of PAS were also detained for purportedly being militant and allegedly having links to international terrorist networks. To date, no promised-evidence has been produced by the government to Malaysians.

ISA abuse by the Malaysian government -1

People forwarded this to me - find it eye-opening (if not already open). Have a nice day, =)

What is ISA?
ISA - Internal Security Act; was enacted in 1960 by our 1st PM, Tunku Abdul Rahman, to deal with communist threat.Tunku promised that the Act would never be used to stifle legitimate opposition and silent lawful dissent.

Who has failed us, the Rakyat?
Firstly, Tunku himself-under his administration in 1965, Burhanuddin Helmi (a nationalist who was political opponent - PAS leader) was detained under ISA until his death in 1969. By any chance, Helmi has never been involved in the armed rebellion or communism that the ISA was designed to deal with. This appeared to have set a precedent that politics can trump the rule of law.In the following years, ISA was used against people who was viewed as threatening to the incumbent administration.

In 1976, ‘sasterawan negara’ the late Tan Sri A Samad Ismail was detained under ISA.
How can this writer ever been a threat to national security?

Forgiveness Vs. Reconciliation

Forgiveness Vs. Reconciliation

"Never pay back evil for evil to anyone. Respect what is right in the sight of all men. If possible, so far as it depends on you, be at peace with all men." Romans 12:17.

This is an amazing phrase - simple looking, terribly hard in application to be honest. But I'm trying.. still learning... (forever learning one ler...) hehe.. anyway.. this post is not a platform for me to SIGH... so here goes... the rightful content.

Following a series of Daily Encounters on "Forgiveness," a number of readers wanted to know if forgiving another person meant that we have to forget what has happened; or to love and stay with them if they are abusive; or to trust them?

The answer is no, no, no! Let me explain further.

When we have sinned, we need to be reconciled to God,2 but while reconciliation with others is the ideal, it isn't always possible—and sometimes not to be desired. Some teachers argue that forgiveness isn't possible unless the offending person admits what she/he has done and asks for forgiveness of the one they have hurt. If this were true, many of us would be stuck for life for the fact that many people do not, or will not, admit that they have done anything wrong, let alone apologize for it.

Forgiveness is dependent only on the person who has been hurt.

Reconciliation is... read more here.

The Promises of Problems - 3

The Promises of Problems
by Mary Southerland

Promise of perfection
Problems, when responded to correctly, are character builders. I recently spoke for a women's conference that used the theme of "Problems into Pearls". Strands of pearls were everywhere -- the center of each table, on the podium from which I spoke, draped across tables -- and many of the ladies wore pearls that day. When the worship leader welcomed me, she said, "We have to get you some pearls!" Digging in her purse, she produced the most beautiful pearl necklace and placed it around my neck. As the day went on, I spoke several times, counseled and prayed with numerous women and tried to meet as many women as possible. When everyone had left, the woman came to retrieve her pearl necklace. I was embarrassed. I had worked up quite a sweat with all of that hugging, laughing, talking. She brushed my apology aside and said, "Sweat is good for pearls. It helps them keep their luster."

"We can rejoice when we run into problems... they help us learn to be patient. And patience develops strength of character in us and helps us trust God more each time we use it until finally our hope and faith are strong and steady." Romans 5:3-4

God is at work in and around you. You may not see His hand, hear His voice or even understand His process, but you can rest assured that you can trust His heart.
Remember, every problem points to a promise.

Let's Pray
Father, thank You for each problem that points me to You. Help me to see trials as handles for Your promises and tools for growth in my life. I choose to accept the lessons You want to teach me in the dark times and celebrate their truth in the light. Give me the strength and power to trust You completely.
In Jesus' name, Amen

The Promises of Problems - 2

The Promises of Problems
by Mary Southerland

Promise of correction
God uses problems to correct us. I have come to realize that some lessons can only be learned in the darkness, through pain and failure. When our daughter was a toddler, she was fascinated with electrical outlets. Nothing we said or did seemed to deter her...until the day she stuck a safety pin in the outlet. "Ouch!" she cried, holding up her little red finger for me to kiss. She never played with an outlet again.

"It was the best thing that could have happened to me, for it taught me to pay attention to your laws." Psalm 119:71-72

Promise of protection
A problem can be a blessing in disguise if it keeps you from being hurt by something more serious. It was so hard for me to take our children to the doctor to get immunization shots. I would take a healthy child into the doctor's office and come out with a little one who was fussy, sore and running a low grade temperature. Our pediatrician finally said, "Mary, just think of it like this. You are allowing your babies to experience a little hurt in order to prevent them from experiencing a bigger hurt. A tetanus shot is nothing compared to tetanus itself.

The Promises of Problems - 1

The Promises of Problems
by Mary Southerland

Today's Truth
"You intended to harm me, but God intended it for good." Genesis 50:20

Friend to Friend
If you are like me, you prefer days when the sun is shining, the sky is blue, and not a cloud in sight. Problems tend to irritate me because they make me realize just how frail I am as a human. But I have come to realize that every problem points to a promise.

Promise of direction
God uses problems to show us the way. We would walk through the wrong door if He didn't close it. Years ago, I dated a young man I thought I would marry. We had it all worked out. He was a preacher and I played the piano and sang. What could be more perfect? I began to pray, "Lord, if he is not the one, just close the door!" The very next conversation I had with this young man ended our relationship and resulted in my taking a church staff position that led me to Dan Southerland. I look back and thank God for that closed door.

"Sometimes it takes a painful situation to make us change our ways." Proverbs 20:30

Matthew 6:32-33 - Seek first the kingdom of God

(For after all these things do the Gentiles seek:)
for your heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of all these things.
But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness;

and all these things shall be added unto you.

Matthew 6:32-33

Ecclesiastes 3:15-17

Ecclesiastes 3:15-17

Whatever is has already been, and what will be has been before;
and God will call the past to acoount.
And I saw something else under the sun:

In the place of judgement - wickedness was there,
in the palce of justice - wickedness was there.

I thought in my heart,

"God will bring to judgement bothe the righteous and the wicked,
for there will be a time for every activity,
a time for every deed."

Man loses RM5,000 after updating online banking details

In less than four minutes, about RM5,000 disappeared from manager Yong Chee Seong’s bank account after he was asked to update his online banking details in an e-mail he received on Tuesday, Kosmo! reported.

“The e-mail looked genuine and I was told to change my bank account password for safety reasons and to avoid being cheated by cyber frauds,” said the 30-year-old.

Yong said he did not suspect anything amiss until he received an SMS from the bank, informing him that a total of RM4,935 had been transferred out of his account.

When contacted, the bank said its policy did not require account holders to change their personal information via e-mail.

Yong made a police report at the Sea Park police station in Petaling Jaya the same day.

pls be careful of such scams. they may look so real...

mortgage reduction

The concept of mortgage reductions has become a growing trend among home owners, who find they can save more money, by putting an extra amount of money, each year, on the loan, without causing a significant strain on their income. A home mortgage reduction has been proven to be one of the quickest ways to payoff a home loan in less time than the original loan terms. Many home title lenders are aware of this simple fact, but many don't make it clear to their borrower because the result is a significant reduction of the interest paid on the agreement.

The key element to this repayment option is the use of the simple concept of paying an extra monthly payment amount over a period of time each year. The more often an extra payment can be made will hasten the mortgage reduction even more. However, to successfully reduce the number of months that it takes to repay the home loan in full, a structured repayment schedule will keep the borrower on track. There are a growing number of mortgage marketers who have established a new business service by offering to assist borrowers by tracking their mortgage reductions repayments and auditing them, as well, to assure that the normal and extra payments are being properly applied to the loan. Their services vary somewhat, and some purport to have no fees while others have minimal fees.

As a borrower begins the process to accelerate their account balance payoff, the initial details of the mortgage are needed to establish a schedule of payments from number one through the final payment. This schedule includes the extra payment set at constant intervals throughout the loan period resulting in the mortgage reduction occurring in a significantly less number of months than the original loan. One example of a 30-year mortgage that is rescheduled reveals that one extra payment made every six months divided into three payments over the month (one normal, two half amounts) results in the loan being paid off in 17.7 years.

The interest rate, the monthly payment, the original loan amount, and the scheduled number of extra payments per year are the variables for these accelerated refinance agreements. The amount of income the borrower can spare to apply to mortgage reductions will determine the number of extra payments he or she can afford. It takes wise and determined borrowers to stick to accelerated repayment plans that will effectively get them out of debt much more quickly than those who let the extras payments slide unpaid when they have other purposes to use the money for.

Biblical advice that will motivate borrowers to stay the course and complete scheduled mortgage reductions can be drawn from Paul's encouragement to not be weary in well-doing: "for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not" (Galatians 6:9). To reap the benefits, borrowers must look forward to the reaping so they will faint not.

Teresa Kok's Warning Molotov

Some uncivilized sicko is running around town frightening people with anonymous "letters".

The police should investigate and find out who's the person behind this. To find the writer isn't hard - esp when he's HAND-WRITTEN it. Smart guy. I've watched CSI, hong kong investigation movies.. and this sort of case is a bottom (simplest) one.

1. get the thumbprints.
2. it's possible to trace individuals through their hand writings.
3. thru the language and it's accent- they can narrow down their search.

btw.. possibly there are thumbprints on the bottles too.

Catch the culprits! Then catch the person WHO INSTRUCTED THEM TO DO IT.

Nine steps for a breakthrough

Got this from somewhere... share it with you. It's good encouragement. ;)

Nine steps for a BreakThrough in Life

1. Face your fear - don't run away from it. Face it. (easy to say, hard to do lea...)
2. Take responsibility for yourself - don't blame your parents.. your friends.. you are responsible to your very own life!

3. Accept the Challenge before you - again, don't run away from it... There's a famous advertisement, I've forgotten which company - "At xxx we embrace challenges'. Nice phrase.

4. Overcome the inevitable - you can't avoid it, might as well overcome it lo.. :p

5. Dream the impossible - a word of caution - don't stay dreaming, wake up and recall your dream and start working out your impossible dream.

6. Be in a position to move - this is a particular message to those who find it so difficult to get up in the morning - wake up wake up wake up!

7. Get into agreemtn - argument comes to no end my friend..

8. Decide whether ou want to LIVE or DIE - so what's your choice? you dn't really have one actually.. but you need to remind your mind that. The choice is not yours. YOU MUST LIVE.

9. Do something to change your destiny - start moving toward your opportunity, don't just sit n wait... :P

hope this helps. =)
