A joke to share - baked beans (not Mr Bean)

One day I met a sweet gentleman and fell in love. When it became apparent that we would marry, I made the supreme sacrifice and gave up beans.

Some months later, on my birthday, my car broke down on the way home from work. Since I lived in the countryside I called my husband and told him that I would be late because I had to walk home. On my way, I passed by a small diner and the odor of baked beans was more than I could stand. With miles to walk, I figured that I would walk off any ill effects by the time I reached home, so I stopped at the diner and before I knew it, I had consumed three large orders of baked beans. All the way home, I made sure that I released all the gas.

Upon my arrival, my husband seemed excited to see! me and exclaimed delightedly: "Darling I have a surprise for dinner tonight."
He then blindfolded me and led me to my chair at the dinner table. I took a seat and just as he was about to remove my blindfold, the telephone rang. He made me promise not to touch the blindfold until he returned and went to answer the call.

The baked beans I had consumed were still affecting me and the pressure was becoming most unbearable, so while my husband was out of the room I seized the opportunity, shifted my weight to one leg and let one go. It was not only loud, but it smelled like a fertilizer truck running over a skunk in front of a pulpwood mill. I took my napkin from my lap and fanned the air around me vigorously.
Then, shifting to the other cheek, I ripped off three more. The stink was worse than cooked cabbage.

Keeping my ears carefully tuned to the conversation in the other room, I went on like this for another few minutes. The pleasure was indescribable. When eventually the telephone farewells signaled the end of my freedom, I quickly fanned the air a few more times with my napkin, placed it on my lap and folded my hands back on it feeling very relieved and pleased with myself.

My face must have been the picture of innocence when my husband returned, apologizing for taking so long. He asked me if I had peeked through the blindfold, and I assured him I had not.
At this point, he removed the blindfold, and twelve dinner guests seated around the table chorused: "Happy Birthday!"

I fainted!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Malaysia gets serious on animal cruelty - FINALLY (sighs of relief..)

Malaysia, Malaysia.. finally.. I see that you’re beginning to have some sense of maturity in animal and pet welfare issues. I regret that it took so long for the officers-in-charge to realize it, but nevertheless I’m utmost elated for Dr Abd Aziz’s statement, “Gone are the days when people can do whatever they like against animals because the department is taking a more proactive role.”

For Malaysian pet lovers, we’re beginning to see some glimmer at the end of the dark path we’ve been walking. We hope to see one of our dreams come true very soon. Real soon.
---
PUTRAJAYA: The Government will conduct surprise checks on pet shops, animal pounds and clinics. In addition Veterinary Services Department director-general Datuk Dr Abd Aziz Jamaluddin urged local councils to re-negotiate their contracts with dog catchers to ensure that animals caught were treated humanely.

“Most of the time, the dog catchers are only interested in the number of animals caught because they are paid by each dog, and the way these animals are then transported to the pound in a small van is inhumane.

“Sometimes, the dogs may have licences, or their collars can’t be seen clearly. The dogs are also put to sleep unsupervised by the department and it is done by people unqualified to handle the dangerous drug.

“We will call the problematic local councils to discuss this matter as well as have a dialogue with animal welfare groups. We will also make it a ruling that all euthanasia of stray animals must be under our supervision,” he told reporters at his office here on Wednesday.

Dr Abd Aziz said in the case of the Subang Jaya Municipal Council (MPSJ) UNIFORMED MEN beating a dog and forcing it out through the railings of a locked gate, which was higlighted by The Star newspaper recently….Other news on animal welfare and cruelty by dog catchers in the Klang Valley had also been reported…….

The department, said Dr Abd Aziz, had already issued guidelines on catching stray dogs for local councils in May this year, which should be adhered to by all.

He said the department also hoped to table a proposal in Parliament next year to amend provisions under the Animals Act, seeking heavier penalties of up to RM10,000 or six years’ jail or both for animal cruelty, and a FINE FOR PEOPLE WHO ABANDONED THEIR PETS. (Bravo, bravo dr aziz for this beautiful, so-long-waited statement of yours. A wise and rational government will surely approve such a proposal.. unless…)

“Previously, the fine was only RM200 (the small figure is so downgrading, and denies the poor pets any justice!) and there was no jail term. The proposed fine for abandonment will look into the intentions of pet owners to see if their animals got loose by themselves or ran away. Abandonment of pets is the main reason behind the huge number of strays,” he said. (he’s darn right about this, my hats off for him for bringing this issue to the eyes of the public)

The department received 57 complaints of animal cruelty and had taken enforcement action against 207 cases last year.

Dr Abd Aziz said it was time that Malaysians treated animals more humanely because “WE ARE A MATURING COUNTRY.” (Amen to that! Bravo Dr Aziz, bravo for your wisdom!)

“Gone are the days when people can do whatever they like against animals because the department is taking a more proactive role,” he promised. AMEN!

Dengue cure-papaya leave increases platelet count

some of you may have heard of this before, but no harm posting it in my blog - for you to read. =) i got it from a friend thru email.
---
I would like to share this interesting discovery from a classmate's son who has just recovered from dengue fever. Apparently, his son was in the critical stage at the ICU when his blood platelet count drops to 15 after 15 liters of blood transfusion.

His father was so worried that he seeks another friend's recommendation and his son was saved. He confessed to me that he gave his son raw juice of the papaya leaves. From a platelet count of 45 after 20 liters of blood transfusion, and after drinking the raw papaya leaf juice, his platelet count jumps instantly to 135. Even the doctors and nurses were surprised. After the second day he was discharged. So he asked me to pass this good news around.

Accordingly it is raw papaya leaves, 2pcs just cleaned and pound and squeeze with filter cloth. You will only get one tablespoon per leaf. So two tablespoon per serving once a day. Do not boil or cook or rinse with hot water, it will loose its strength. Only the leafy part and no stem or sap. It is very bitter and you have to swallow it like "Won Low Kat". But it works.

*Papaya Juice - Cure for Dengue*

You may have heard this elsewhere but if not I am glad to inform you that papaya juice is a natural cure for dengue fever. As dengue fever is rampant now, I think it's good to share this with all.

A friend of mine had dengue last year. It was a very serious situation for her as her platelet count had dropped to 28,000 after 3 days in hospital and water has started to fill up her lung. She had difficulty in breathing. She was only 32-year old. Doctor says there's no cure for dengue. We just have to wait for her body immune system to build up resistance against dengue and fight its own battle. She already had 2 blood transfusion and all of us were praying very hard as her platelet continued to drop since the first day she was admitted.

Fortunately her mother-in-law heard that papaya juice would help to reduce the fever and got some papaya leaves, pounded them and squeeze the juice out for her. The next day, her platelet count started to increase, her fever subside. We continued to feed her with papaya juice and she recovered after 3 days!!!

A familiar name

today i was busy working with some dogs until i heard someone calling around the clinic a very familiar name, "Gary.. Gary..." I turned around... (I had a friend named Gary)... it couldn't be...

Then I saw the girl squatted down and picked up a pug, "Gary, you naughty boy!"

At once I burst out laughing. I've heard people and dog sharing the same names, but Gary... is such uncommon for dogs.

I sure hope that no dog will ever have the same name as mine.

Being wrong and yet not guilty?

Tat really irks me!

Being someone who "almost-always" am late for my meetings, i understand and can tolerate when people arrive late for appointments. I'm not saying tat being late is ok. It is not ok at all. In fact, it is very wrong and you are not respecting the other person's time. People may lose their trust in you. I was wrong , and had been "almost-always" wrong in my time-management. :p

So, being late is wrong.
But do you know that you can add another wrong to your "being late"? It is by not even having the least tinge of guilt from the fact tat you are late. If you are late, and you are sorry about it, it's ok. Forgiven.

However, I've heard some responses from those late-comers tat really irk me.
"I always late one ma."
"I always come at this time one.."
"There are people later than me one..."
"Who ask you to come so early?"
"Malaysians are famous for wat? Late la.."
"You should get adjusted to our culture.."

WRONG WRONG WRONG!
Though i'm not 100% punctual or early always, but I try and I struggle and I discipline myself to achieve tat.

Anyone who "realizes" tat they are infamous for being late should really do something about it.

Bomoh held over sexual assault

Sometimes i really don't understand - between human and God, why choose human to help before even seeking the omnipotent, omniscient God first? How many times have we read in the paper about bomoh sexually assaulting ladies - let alone the cases that went unreported.

Ladies especially, why are we still allowing this to happen?

Seek God first, my friends, before you ever thought of bomoh or medium or etc.
What harm is there?

Is it more prudent to trust an Almighty God or trust man?

Think about it.
---
PETALING JAYA: A beauty consultant was sexually assaulted by a bomoh after she went to him seeking treatment for “disturbances”.
The man allegedly groped her private parts and inserted prayer beads into her vagina, according to sources.
The 33-year-old mother of four had gone to the bomoh with her husband and a relative after she claimed she was “possessed” on Nov 13 while at work.

She had started screaming loudly while attending to a customer.
After the incident, she was advised by friends and relatives to consult a bomoh when she continued to behave strangely, staring blankly into space and had difficulty sleeping.

Sources said the woman went to see the bomoh in Kuang two days after the incident.
The woman was ushered into a room where she was told to remove her clothes (why would she agree to tat?!) and was clad only in a piece of yellow and black cloth.

The bomoh told her husband and relative to buy incense sticks for the ritual, said the sources.
They were quite reluctant to leave the woman but did so after the bomoh convinced them that he had run out of incense sticks and that they were crucial in performing the ritual.

After they left, the bomoh was said to have recited some chants which purportedly sent the woman into a semi-conscious state.
He groped her breasts and private parts before inserting prayer beads into her vagina. Her husband and relative did not suspect anything amiss as the woman appeared to be her normal self.

After further chantings, the bomoh gave the woman a bottle of water and an amulet. The three left shortly after.
A day after the incident, sources said the woman began to feel some pain in her private parts and told her husband about it.

They then confronted the bomoh who insisted that what he did was a normal procedure and was part of a cleansing ritual (boy.. am I "amazed!")

A police report was lodged at the Gombak police headquarters on Nov 16 and the 44-year-old bomoh was picked up from his place at Kampung Melayu Sri Kundang,
The suspect has been remanded for seven days from Nov 19.

today's cell group

I'd say.. of the year-long cells, today is the one which i enjoyed the most - coz it contained most discussions, most talks, most sharings, most laughter, but the most important thing is - fellowship - knowing how each other are doing with mutual encouragement.

Enjoyed it. Looking forward for more cells as such. =)

What Unc Row said is true - cell group is mainly a platform for fellowship, not in-depth bible study.

I can't help, but totally agree with him. =) Thank God for today. and the blessed days he's given me.

Vacation Bible School (VBS)

The children's on holiday! And we had the VBS for the past few days. i was just a "helper", where i look after the children.. sometimes i feel like a nanny.. or babysitter... but it's fun! Many a times they remind me of my younger days... there goes my youth.. ;p
on the first day we reached our destination at MBS (guess the full name, anyone? hehe...) at kundang. from the sound/location of the place, i'd thought that the facility was sth like the place - those "ulu-ulu" you know.. but on reaching there.. wow.. the lobby.. was interesting. I mean it looked nice.

Then we went to the dorm. The moment we opened the door.. cool breeze rushed out, my, it's air-conditioned!! Wow.. these children are really pampered... you see how they rushed to their beds in the above pic.
and there are washrooms in the dorms as well, full with hot water facility. they have clean swimming pool there, closed door court (u can play badminton there), a small field.. and many more, they even cooked delicious sumptous meals for us everyday.

It's reali a nice place for a group retreat or camp. In fact i learned that tomoro the youth (from another church) is organizing a youth camp there. Beautiful place.

I'll talk about the children n the activities in my upcoming posts (if i'm in the mood tat is, haha...)

tat's all first. I'm sun burnt for now. It's a great thing to be home again. =)

the best greeter

i loved coming home.. from anywhere, whether from work.. shopping.. outing.. etc.. i just loved the moment of "reaching and entering home". haha.. coz.....

i have a professionally, never-disappointing greeter.. my dear dearie toff!! ;D toff, all smiles!

yep, everytime my kancil went "beep" i could here some gentle whimpering, from a distance i could see his "i-miss-you-o-so-much" eyes, ears laid back, body swaying vigorously left and right, magnified by his bushy tails. as i walk nearer, the whimpering slowly turns to loud and rough (?) cries.. which i perceive as complaining , "where have you been all these while!!!".

as i step into the house, he'll rush towards me, jumping and sniffing, (licking my face, if i'm not fast enough to avoid it), then he'll stand up and wait for me to hug him..

haaa... ;-)

wonderful greeter..

Blinded pilot guided safely to ground

LONDON (AP) - A British pilot who suffered a stroke and lost his sight mid-flight was talked safely down to the ground by a military pilot, the Royal Air Force said Friday.

Jim O'Neill asked for help after he was suddenly blinded 40 minutes into a solo flight from Scotland to southeastern England last week. The BBC reported that O'Neill, flying a small Cessna aircraft, lost his sight 5,500 feet (1,676 meters) in the air.

"It was terrifying,'' O'Neill said. "Suddenly, I couldn't see the dials in front of me.''

The air force said in a news release that O'Neill initially believed he'd been "dazzled'' by bright sunlight, and made an emergency call for help. He then realized that something more serious was happening, and said, "I want to land, ASAP.''

RAF Wing Commander Paul Gerrard was just finishing a training flight nearby and was drafted in to help the stricken pilot.

"Landing an aircraft literally blind needs someone to be right there to say 'Left a bit, right a bit, stop, down,''' Gerrard said. "On the crucial final approach, even with radar assistance, you need to take over visually. That's when having a fellow pilot there was so important....

...In a recording posted to the BBC's news Web site, Gerrard gives O'Neill instructions _ "a gentle right hand turn, please,'' is called for at one point _ and he can be heard apologizing.

"You could hear the apprehension in his voice over the radio and the frustration he was experiencing,'' said radar controller Richard Eggleton. "I kept saying 'Are you visual?' and he would reply 'No sir, negative, I'm sorry sir.' He kept on apologizing.

"Being up there, on your own, without sight _ it doesn't bear thinking about.''

With Gerrard talking him down, O'Neill's plane hit the runway and bounced up again, the RAF said. It did the same on the second touchdown. On the third, O'Neill was able to keep his plane on the ground.

fat fat fat super super fat!

HE WAS HUGE! FAT FAT FAT SUPER SUPER VERY FAT!

i remembered how i used to laugh at hmeng's virtual "spare-tyre".. oh wow.. this is real "spare-tyres". the dog was soooooooooooOOOOOOOOOOOOOOooo fat, his skins are folded around his neck, buttock... my... how can they let their dog grow tat fat!!!

that's against animal welfare! i forgot to take the picture. otherwise he will surely be published in my blog. i told them to exercise the dog.. they gave this n tat excuse la..

hey hey, (i wished to ask them) - why do you keep a dog in the first place if you, at the very least, do not plan to walk him?

Gossiping = murdering

hey.. look at the title and i bet you'll be wondering - pam must have gone crazy.

but.. i'm still very sober here. nothing to do with craziness. i've had this chat with a fren of mine, and to my surprise - he told me tat he gossips. well.. well.. many people do gossip.. but do yo know that gossiping is wrong?

if you think gossips is good.. do you like people to whisper while staring at you with disgusting looks in their eyes.. then later you realize that they have been gossiping on you? well.. yoiu may say, i don't spread rumours.. well.. then.. why gossip?

honestly, do you like me to gossip to my family and friends about your life? (whoever you are)

when you gossip a little here n there.. you're slowly , very slowly destroying the person's image (A) in the other person's eyes (B).. and so you're killing A in a subtle manner..in a very subliminal manner.. how is A supposed to stand before B in future?

so if gossiping is not murdering.. what is it?

The 10 commandments : Law number 6: "You shall not kill."

Zaid hits back at critics

KOTA BARU: Former de facto Law Minister Datuk Zaid Ibrahim has hit back at three Umno supreme council members who asked him to apologise over remarks he made about Ketuanan Melayu (Malay supremacy).

Stressing that he would never apologise, Zaid in a statement yesterday said it was because he loved his Malay race that he had recommended that open competition be allowed to ensure the race could compete with others in a globalised age.

“I am not surprised by the reaction of some Umno leaders especially since they have an ongoing party election,” he said. (neither am I)

“I am a village boy from a poor family, not an aristocrat or royalty. I want to see the Malays succeed in economy and education.”

Zaid said he was not questioning the special rights of Malays as enshrined in the Constitution.
He said the new model that he recommended was based on openness to ensure young Malays closed ranks and cooperated not only with other races in the country but also foreigners.

He named Datuk Seri Syed Hamid Syed Albar, Datuk Seri Shahidan Kassim and Tan Sri Muhammad Muhammad Taib as the three supreme council members.

Zaid pointed out recently that the Malay supremacy concept had failed and distracted from the real issues confronting the country.

Yesterday, he said he hoped Malays could differentiate between leaders who thought of their interests from those who only used the name of the Malays for political mileage. (yah, he's really rite. think far... think objective and think logic.. )

Zaid said the concept of Malay supremacy had a negative element. (When will they ever grow with such a mindset?)
