ISA abuse by the Malaysian government -3

Current PM, Abdullah
In late 2007, Hindraf 5 were detained under ISA for having links with the militant Liberation Tiger of Tamil Eelam of Sri Lanka. To date, no concrete evidence have been presented to support this assertion.

On 12th Sept 2008, outraging detentions of Tan Hoon Cheng, Teresa Kok and Raja Petra Kamarudin under ISA.

Journalist Tan Hoon Cheng was detained for her own safety was farcical. Released 16 hours later.-prior to her detention, she has reported in Sin Chew Daily on the racist remarks made by Bukit Bendera Umno division leader Ahmad Ismail.-the report had sparked nationwide outcry and led to Ahmad Ismail suspensions from UMNO for 3 years.

Seputeh MP Teresa Kok was detained to have incited religious sentiments which was unfounded. Released on 19th Sept 2008.-the arrest was based entirely on the false, malicious and unsubstantiated article written by senior editor Zaini Hassan, in UMNO-owned Utusan Malaysia on 10th Sept 2008.-Selangor opposition leader Mohd Khir Toyo had reportedly alleged Teresa Kok.-the imam of Bandar Kinrara mosque however, has publicly denied Teresa Kok's involvement.Teresa Kok has lodged police report & sued Utusan Malaysia, Zaini and Dr Mohd Khir Toyo for criminal defamation. She has also sued Malaysian government for her unlawful arrest and detention.

Raja Petra Kamarudin was arrested for publishing articles on his news portal (Malaysia Today) which allegedly tarnished the leadership of the country and insulted the sanctity of Islam.-Under the Act, the initial two-year detention without trial can be renewed indefinitely. This outspoken hero is detained in Kamunting, may your spirit remains High!! -His wife, Marina Lee & his legal team have filed second habeas corpus on 30th Sept 2008.
