The first time I witnessed blood donation was when I was in F6. I was scared, seeing blood drewn from ppl's hand, and I couldn't help but wandered around the donation hall observing every single processes done. It was organized, smooth and definitely hygienic.

A friend of mine was jumping so happily waiting for her turn to donate her blood. To her dismay, her blood iron/ferum was below the normal range. I thought, "Then don't donate, no big deal right?" But to my surprise, she spent her entire afternnon crying over it, 'I have long been waiting to donate my blood.. why does this happen to me??"

To her, being unable to donate her blood is a big-life-giving-opportunity missed. And now, I too, share her point of view. Blood is needed for emergencies and for people who have cancer, blood disorders, sickle cell, anemia and other illnesses. Some people need regular blood transfusions to live.

Imagine if giving blood was part of everyone's life. Something you did on a regular basis, like eating at your favorite restaurant. What kind of difference would that make? For nearly 5 million people who receive blood transfusions every year, your donation can make the difference between life and death.

The Ant and the Contact Lens: a true story

Brenda was almost halfway to the top of the tremendous granite cliff. She was standing on a ledge where she was taking a breather during this, her first rock climb. As she rested there, the safety rope snapped against her eye and knocked out her contact lense.

'Great', she thought. 'Here I am on a rock ledge, hundreds of feet from the bottom and hundreds of feet to the top of this cliff, and now my sight is blurry.'

She looked and looked, hoping that somehow it had landed on the ledge. But it just wasn't there.She felt the panic rising in her, so she began praying. She prayed for calm, and she prayed that she may find her contact lens. When she got to the top, a friend examined her eye and her clothing for the lens, but it was not to be found. Although she was calm now that she was at the top, she was saddened because she could not clearly see across the range of mountains.

She thought of the bible verse 'The eyes of the Lord run to and fro throughout the whole earth.'

She thought, 'Lord, You can see all these mountains. You know every stone and leaf, and You know exactly where my contact lens is. Please help me.'

Later, when they had hiked down the trail to the bottom of the cliff they met another party of climbers just starting up the face of the cliff. One of them shouted out, 'Hey, you guys! Anybody lose a contact lens?' Well, that would be startling enough, but you know why the climber saw it?

Video presented at Bandar Mahkota public inquiry

KUALA LUMPUR: A video was presented at the Suhakam public inquiry into the alleged excessive use of police force at the disputed Bandar Mahkota Cheras barricade on May 27.
It showed up to 30 Federal Reserve Unit and plainclothes police personnel surrounding and striking a vehicle.(mind you.. it's 30 ppl vs 1, one, satu, car/kereta)... .. All five of the witnesses who testified on Thursday said the Wira had accelerated quickly before stopping behind another car at the apex of the U-turn near the barricade. The FRU and plainclothes officers then proceeded to surround the vehicle... ..."I was behind the FRU line. They started hitting the car and shouted for them to get out," he said.

He added that the driver's window had been shattered and they had been punching the driver through the open window. He said three officers then dragged out one of the rear passengers who was crying and telling them to stop beating him.

"Next, they dragged the driver out. He was already bleeding," he said, adding that the officers dragged him out, sat him down and continued to beat him.
The last two to be forced out were a male and female who were not handled as roughly as the first two.
According to Syed Jaymal, he asked one of the officers what happened after the incident.
"The officer said the driver had run down one of their men and was acting aggressively. So we acted aggressively as well. He asked for it," he said. (excuse me.. this is the exact example of power in the wrong hands. my my... ever heard of this phrase: with great power comes great responsibility? these ppl have indeed abused them and still dared claim their rights! they really need their thinking boxes washed inside out)

When Syed Jaymal asked the officer for evidence of his man getting run down, there was at first no reply. It was only when another officer announced it was a reporter asking the question that one officer stepped out from the crowd to show Syed Jaymal a broken baton and a torn knee-pad...

it's not easy

it's been a few hard weeks on me - with the deaths of so many lovely young puppies - with good owners who reali loved them... spent a few nights with tears on my pillow.. waking up head-so-pounding, heart-so-heavy.. it wasnt' meant to be personal... but nevertheless...

i watched the puppies - from the first day.. tail all so waggy, waist o-the-dancings.. active jumping...
2nd day.. 3rd day.. every mode tuned down..
till the moment when they could not move any longer... and breathed their last..

it wasn't easy - trying to save these souls i so-wanted to... watching them dying.. the souls slowly creeping from their physics...

i thank the understanding owners... and i'm sorry for them as well...

If the school starts at 7.30am, and you reach at 7.40am. You'll be punished. Coz 10minutes makes a big difference. Even school children understand this, how can these "smart" people not understand them? Try asking a business man - is 45minutes important to him? Talk to the MAS, the flight companies - try arguing with them, “Does it make so much difference, another half an hour or 45 minutes?” -sigh- dear dear...

HONEST TO THE TRUTH
I remembered as a school prefect, when we "arrest" an "incriminated" student, we must first produce and show them the "crime report". Without the report - we have no proof. Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim lashed out at the police saying that to date they have not given him a copy of the police report of the sodomy allegation made by his accuser Mohd Saiful Bukhari Azlan.... ...If they give the report to me now, how am I supposed to know that it is the original? Are they waiting to make up the ‘perfect’ police report?” he asked, adding that each time he sought a copy, the police said they had been instructed against giving him the report... The question now is, Who instructed them not to give him a copy of the report, and WHAT WERE THE REASONS - too good to be revealed?

What is so highly secretive in the report?? I won't blame Anwar for saying, "Is it so that they can keep amending and amending and amending it to fit in with the statement that I have just given to the police?" Anyone in their right mind would think the same too.

DON"T WE HAVE ARCHIVE?
I noticed that in overseas, eg HongKong, they keep their people's DNA forever. So that in future - whether 10 years or 20 years down the road, they are still able to track the person via DNA. What about Malaysia? Don't we do the same thing? I'm sure our technology is rather competitive... but why request for Anwar's DNA again, since they have taken them just 10 years ago???? They could have easily charged Anwar based on his DNA 10 years ago (DNAs never change, fyi). Why didn't they do so????

Asked if the police could not compare the DNA sample in the sodomy allegation to the one gathered from Anwar back in 1998, Syed Hamid said it was best to get a fresh sample. If he insisted on a "FRESH" DNA, i'm pretty sure that 10 years ago when they analyzed the DNA, it was still in "Fresh" condition. so... wat's the issue here????????????????????

When I first heard of the LIVE debate betw Information Minister Datuk Ahmad Shabery Cheek and PKR adviser Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim yesterday: The one-hour debate, entitled “Today we form the Government, tomorrow the fuel prices will go down”. Anxiously I waited till 9pm, and turned on the tv. This open, live debate tells the world that we are indeed, a nation who is open to her people. I had expected the calculations and reasons from the government for the rise of 40%, why not 10% or 20%.. why the drastic 40%? But wat turned out was disappointing.

As a student, I was once trained on how to debate, professionally. We talk about the topic and facts, we do not debate on the person. To include personal attacks and self opinions in debates are definitely a no-no. The juries will deduct your points. Shabery said this, "Anwar suka mengambil kesempatan daripada kesempitan rakyat.... Tan Seri Datuk Dr. Nordin Kardi ought to learn more from the professional peer sitting on his left, Datuk Johan Jaaffar. Shabery also commented that the subsidy for fuel will benefit the rich, "terpaksa digunakan HANYA untuk menampung subsidi minyak yang sebahagiannya akan digunakan oleh orang orang yang sudah kaya, yang sudah mempunyai kenderaan yang besar..." Does he not realize that there are many Malaysians who rely on their transport to get to the work place, to earn a monthly salary of less than RM3000?? RM3000 a month you don't call them RICH! Please, do more researches before you speak. Are there more Ferrari, Mercedes, BMW on the street compared to Wira, Iswara, Kancil (still existing!)... motorcycles????

Many of Shabery's statements were flying statements, without facts to back up with. I may miss some of the pertinents points or understood completely different on the points being argued, so please correct me if I am wrong. The points are also listed not in any particular order.

1. Shabery compared Malaysia to Norway, a country who's "pendapatan per kapita" is ten times higher than us. (compare a cucumber to a durian...)
2. Shabery claimed tat beyond 2015 we will be net oil importer, which was not tru. Petronas actually mentioned, that if in the next 10 years we are not able to find "telaga baru"... years ago Petronas actually calculated that by 2005 we'll be experienciong oil depletion... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0Th-zjy9jsM&feature=related
3. Many companies, SMEs went bankrupt during 1997 economic crisis because of Anwar... due to the IPP issues.. which were actually against the then Financial Ministry's advice.
4. Shabery argued that prior to election Pakatan Rakyat promised to reduce fuel price (below RM1.92) and why now only 50 sen? To which Anwar gave a simple explanation- berperingkat (stagger). This is common sense. Say you had a depression one day, and in a months' time you ate so much, you gained 10kg of body weight! is it possible to cut down your size to what you were before in a short time? No... you had to do it one step at a time, or else it's gonna hurt your body cells...
5. Shabery stressed that the inflation faced now could not be attributed solely to fuel prices. http://thestar.com.my/news/story.asp?file=/2008/7/16/nation/21836068&sec=nation. Anwar gave a figure: in less than a month after the fuel price hike, our inflation rate actually went beyond 8%. While fuel is definitely not the sole influence to inflation, but it plays a major role - for it's the basis for transportation, commodity, etc...
6. Shabery asked if it was possible for the nation to provide more subsidies amidst rising oil price (without giving examples and figure) to which Anwar defended with, many oil experts & researches mention that there already exist a break-point - "ada kemungkinan harga minyak akan menetap dan mula menurun".
7. Shabery kept pointing that to subsidize fuel = take more money and povertizing Petronas, which was corrected by Anwar many times. The subsidizing should be done thru proper and better financial and resource management.
8. and many more... i do not have the time to analyze.

Anwar's summary:

1. As a nation tat exports oil, "harga minyak di Malaysia keterlaluan tinggi".
2. It is possible for the fuel price to stabilize and slowly go down.
3. At the current economic management, Malaysia' economy wil be much worse from before in a few months' time.

Shabery's summary:

1. Anwar has always been against Tun Razak, Mahathir, and now Abdullah Badawi; creating street protests.
2. More subsidy = "kita membenarkan ia (petronas) menjadi semakin miskin dan mungkin kita nak benarkan orang lain akan mengambil petronas suatu masa nanti."
3. Our economic growth at 6% is better than many other neighbouring countries.

Yes, i do agree tat rats are increasing in population aroundKL based on the increasing number of rats-found-dead on the streets. Perhaps tat is the link why I'm seeing more dog poisoning cases these few weeks.

Use whichever way you please to kill the rats, but please do not choose rat-poison. It's not just a "rat-poison". Rat poison=all animals' poison. Depending on the type of poison & concentration, some dogs may die within few hours after ingesting the poison.

My humble suggestion is, if you really must use rat poison, use it within your house compound, not outside so as to avoid other ppl's dogs or cats ingesting it. If you have a dog at home, be darn sure that your dog won't get to it.

Do not ignore this when selecting your handphone

less than a month ago, i got a new hp, it was nice, with mp3, memory card, camera and stuff. Initially I was playing the mp3 almost everytime I was free, and I realized that my battery power was running low very fast, twice the time faster compared to my previous hp.

I thought I used too much mp3. I thought I didin't use the screen saver. I thought I didn't use the power-saving mode. But after checking all these, my battery still runs down by the 2nd day of charging. Then I started asking around - some ppl's hp actuali can last up to 5 days - whether they play the mp3 or not.

I was jealous. No, i mean, I was not happy with my hp batt's performance. So i went to the phoneshop just now, and guess what the sales man told me?
"Oh, your hp model requires you to charge every one or two days. Other hp models' batt can last up to 5 days but not yours."

I was like, shocked? A not-so-obsolete hp model requiring their user to charge the batteries every one or two days? Man, that's an obsolete technology which should have long been replaced!

Anyway, I insisted for a batt change, and they've sent my hp batt to the factory, i don't know wat'll happen.

Lesson of the day - do enquire about the duration of power of your hp batt before making any purchase. Charging the hp everyday is a boring, mundane routine which i certainly dislike.

Scenario : a demodectic (skin problem) puppy comes for a fourth follow up (been 3 weeks d)

Owner: Dr, when will my puppy's skin get well? totally well?
Me : It depends on individuals. some gets over it very fast, some very slow. (you've asked tis question more than 10 times...help me... -_-')
Owner: It's been 2 weeks already wor... why no improve one?
Me : If you remember clearly the first time your puppy came here the skin was all oily crumpled, and now it's all smooth. Isn't this improvement?
Owner: Ya.. but already 2 weeks wor...
Me : (-_-') I remember I told you many times that demodectic problem is not a 1-week problem. It takes 2-3months in average.
Owner: But still no hair wor..
Me : The hair needs time to grow. (-_-''''''''''''')
Owner: Why sometimes i sweep my hand across his fur/body my hand becomes black?

Owner: There... my hand became oily.. black.. why is the dog skin like that?
Me : oh my... (why are you torturing me??) tat's what we call dirt. in malay i call it DAKI. it happens cause your puppy sleeps on the floor, gathers dirt, so when you sweep your hand across the body, you gather more dirt, tat's y it's black.
Owner : Oh.. got like that one aa... now what shampoo should i use ha?
Me : I told you before, use AA. continue using it.
Owner: Is BB shampoo better?
Me : (i spent half an hour last week explaining their differences and now you're asking me like they're toys from outer space to you??) I've explained much about them to you last week. Do you recall?
Owner: Yah, i know. Do you think BB is better?
Me : In your puppy's situation, AA is more suitable.
Owner: So you think BB is better?
Me : (deep sigh...) Let's say AA is orange, BB is apple. Or maybe AA is lemon, BB is durian. Do you say lemon better or durian better? You can't compare. YOu use them whenever they're suitable for your dog's skin condition.
Owner: Yes yes... so Bb is better?
Me : I say use AA. Just use AA. If you want to use BB, go ahead. (I'll not stop you.)

The aftermath

3pm.
You could not smile. Even the best jokes in the world managed to just crack the fine lines in your face, but you could not smile from your heart. The world seemed gloomy. You felt your face getting warmer, flushing. Visions began to blur.

3.10pm.
You can feel warm tears began flooding your mini-eye-tank. For a second you wished your lower eye-lid was bigger, wider to contain the sudden outpouring of the tears. You tried your best to hold the tear production, but they would not listen. You widen your eyes in the effort to contain the tears better but... it was a mission impossible. You failed.

Tears leaked from your mini-eye-tank. Initially they were small droplets of tears, but in a matter of seconds they've upgraded into streams. Never look down on them. Tell me the truth

There is a puppy named kuch-kuch, had fallen ill, and things have been getting worse each day. We're still trying to find out the cause of the problem. Kuch-kuch was presented with rare symptoms, and we're still cracking our head at the diagnosis.

Today, kuch-kuch's owners came to visit kuch-kuch. A mother & a daughter. I was busy walking up and down the clinic when suddenly the mother stopped me, "Can I speak to you for one second please?"

I said okay, but I was shocked when she asked me to talk to her outside the ward - away from her daughter. I didn't understand the purpose of talking outside the ward. Nevertheless i obliged.

Then she started, "I need you to tell me the truth, is my dog dying? Is there still anyhope for my dog to live? I need to know the truth. YOu must tell me the truth. What is really in your mind?"

For one moment I reflected onto the movies where the kins pushed the doctor aside and asked the same questions about the dying patient inside.

I was stunned. She continued, "You must tell me. My daughter is very attached to kuch-kuch. I must prepare her first, if he's going to die. Is my dog dying? Please tell me the truth, the truth from your heart."

It was a straight-forward yet complicated request, and it broke my heart.
What is really wrong with kuch-kuch? Is he really dying? Or will he live?
Wat will tomorrow bring?

I need to know the truth too.

here's my question: our government cries of inflation control - teaching her ppl how to save money save this save tat use less of this and tat... but ironically lifted the fuel subsidy (increased petrol price) which will indefinitely increase the prices of almost all other commodities and thus increase inflation. Ultimatum: the ppl suffer. I foresee tat in te near future more construction projects abandoned, more financial crises, more families renting houses (can't afford to buya hse - price increase), economy affected severely.

Why not increase the tax for the companies which profited from the soaring oil price???
Why are these companies so important to them, while the public has to suffer???

Being There

Many a times ppl do not understand the meaning of communication. Sometimes when questions and problems are posed, ppl are not looking for solutions. They are merely looking for some listening ears.

A conscience tat someone is being there soothes the aching soul. A pair of ever-ready-to-listen ears is wat is needed most sometimes. At times, they are the only thing needed in the conversation.

When ppl try to talk, don't interrupt their flow - no matter whether the solution suddenly zings into your left brain or whether the talker has said sth wrong... it's downright annoying to interrupt and interpret and justify and worse, solving. First listen, then observe the talker: is she asking for a solution? if you don't think so, don't suggest any.

Sometimes when she is annoyed with someone, whether she's right or wrong, it's always good to agree with her first. When she's calmed down a bit, able to smile a little - then only you discuss more into the topic with her.

few days ago i was ushering in my church - as usual, smile... greet people. .shake hands...
i saw children walk in.. one by one.. until suddenly a few familiar faces caught my attention n i got shocked!

yeah.. shocked, but glad & happy! it was a pleasant surprise to see Pastor Rc & family visiting my church!

i've heard tat he's not in ktn, but in my church was definitely beyond my imagination!! thinking back.. it's been almost a year since i left ktn, and yah... i still miss them. :-)

i'M SURe "R-E-C-Y-C-L-E" is not a foreign word to many of us anymore. Recycle, reuse, recycle... i'm sure i don't have to explain the definition of these beautiful words anymore rite?

Every one plays an important part in their daily life. imagine in one day, everyone refuses one plastic bag, we would have 6 billion of plastic bags saved!

This is how you do it.

When you go to the groceries - if your purchase is less than 4 items, REFUSE plastic bags.
If you go the hypermarket, if possible - bring your own bags & refuse plastic bags. Go MAKRO.

If you work in a small grocery/ any shop which sells things - encourage your clients NOT to use plastic bags. Tell them, "we must recycle". I know this makes us sound naggy, boring, not "in", etc, but hey.. somebody's got to do this to awaken ppl's awareness every now and then.

Do Your Part. Start at home. .Start at your work place. Every single effort COUNTS.

Many things are edible on earth, just look around you, wat God created, mostly can be eaten. But fellow frens, choose wisely those things you want to pop into your mouth.
While all things are permissible, not all things are beneficial.

Back to my topic today, i love dogs. Nope, i love dogs as pets, not food. One simple reason amongst many other reasons is: they are very interactive. They are almost always so willing to please you, they'll do watever you commanded them to, provided they understand what you meant. =) this is the trick.

As for my dog, today he achieved something new. He's learned to drink water at my command! I know many of you would bah at this, but hey, look at it, all dogs go eat, whether or not you commanded them to. They loved eating. But can you make a dog drink as you like? Many ppl always tell me the same thing, "My dog doesn't like to drink water." What if, you can make your dog drink water as often as you could? :)

Imagine you called to your dog, "Koko, go drink water!" Koko just stares back at you (i'm not thirsty).

But once you've mastered the skill : make them drink water at your command, it's a sheer joy to watch them drink water! just so cute!

Today toff achieved this new level of understanding, and i literally made him drink water again and again, and he's enjoying it! Im enjoying it too. =)

Life at work

Working, tests or builds our character. Everyone agree? Yea.. birds of the same flock fly together. :P

One of it was... how patient am I?? I used to think i am a "tidak-apa-tidak-kisah-no-tantrum" person.. until i started working... here are a few good examples:

Scenario A: A man brings in a normal-looking puppy.
Me: Wat can I do for you?
Man: My dog wants to see the vet.
Me : Wat's wrong with your dog?
Man: YOu've got to ask him. How would i know?
Me: Why do you bring him to the vet then?
Man: Coz he wanted to see the vet.
Me: Look, your dog can't talk. How do you know tat he wanted to see the vet?
Man: See la, i know how to see one mah.
Me : (deep sigh) Ok. Is there anything tat worries youa bout your dog? Anything you think not rite? Or you just want a general chek up?
Man: If i know i don't have to come here lah.
Me: How's his appetite? Any vomit, diarrhoea, flu.... etc?
Man: How would i know. i work one. come home at nite.
Me: (-_-') nver mind. I'll just see what i can find.

Scenario B: Consulting a client...
Me: How's your dog's appetite?
Man: He seldom pass out stools, maybe once or twice.
Me: How's your dog's appetite?
Man: Sometimes the stool weird weird one.
Me: Does your dog still eat?
Man: I feed him rice la.. cucumber la... etc..
Me: (did you hear me?!!) Nevermind. Now i'm asking you, does your dog still eat?
Man: I not sure. I put his food there, if he finishes his food, then he finishes la. if he doesn't then he doesn't la.
Me: So does your dog finish his food this morning?
Man: yesterday got eat le..
Me: (sigh...) Ok. how about today?

Scenario C: Consulting a client
Me: I recommend to hospitalize your dog.
Man: If hospitalize you all duno how to feed him one.
Me: We'll see how, and then we'll feed him.
Man: Will he die?
Me: He's sick. And ne need to be warded. If not treated he may die.
Man: Sure die one a? I don't want him to die.
Me: If not treated he may die. If you want to take care of him at home, you have to bla bla bla..
Man: Wa.. so difficult i cannot take care one. i work bla bla bla (3 minutes bla bla)
Me: Tat's why i advice to hospitalize your dog.
Man: My dog very scared to come here one.
Me: Look, scared or not scared, your dog need to be taken care of. If you can't do it, we'll have to do it for you.
Man: My dog cannot stay one nite away from home.
Me: (-_-') Nevermind, no problem. Then you bring home take care. IF you have any quiries, call me ok.
Man: But nobody to take care at home wor...
Me: (-_-') You think about it, i'll come back after a short while k.

tomyam yumm yumm..

i love eating... good food (somethings are meant to be food, while certain other things are never meant to be food. For those things which are not meant to be food, i'll never put them onto my dinner plate. NEVER.)

anyway, today i just wanna comment on the tomyam servings in malaysia. we all know tat tomyam (most likely) originates from thailand.. but in malaysia, we do have tomyam stalls aplenty! i've tasted sooOOoooOOoo many of them.. and i realized one thing: the tomyam prepared in malay / thai stalls have always tasted better than any other restaurants!

& one of the main ingredients in those malay/thai tomyams are... they always have lemon-grass, onions, chillis, tomatoes... and many of them just tasted authentic! i mean they dun taste like tom-yam paste or maggi-mee...

5-half day! yahooooooooOOOOOoooo! ! !

Yes! tat's right! i'm now workin only 5-half day.. oh.. how i lurRrve it!

well, for those who didn't knw, ever since i come back Kay-Ell i've been working 6-full days. it was very tiring, to be honest - feel like no day of rest at all. But i had no one to complain to, coz i've agreed to this 6-full-day thingy even before i started my work here. Tat's the sacrifice i had to make if i insisted on a Sunday-off. Sunday is my Sabbath, thus there's no talk-talk abt working on Sunday.

Sometimes in the morning (waking up is the hardest thing to do) i often talked to God.. "I'm really tired.. can I work less day... please.." It was just a mere talk or complain - i had no wishing or hoping or expecting...

One day, my boss told me tat he's reducing my workdays by another half - which means i now work for 5-half days only! Oh yah! God is good!

Don't you see... God listens even to the slightest, hopeless sigh of His children.

one beautfiful night...

i was happily walking my doggie toff at a field near my hse. it was a dark night. from the dims of the street light, i caught a glimpse of a large black dog wandering around the junction toward my hse. toff, being the "i-see-dogs-i-kill-them" (haha, forgive my exaggerating here)-natured dog, quickly went into his "ATTENTION!" posture. Eyes, nose and tail all stood "ready". ready for wat? u know.. being te "i-see-dogs-i-kill-them"... he noticed the huge rottweiler roaming nearby.

Thankfully, i had toff on leash. Unfortunately, the rott was not on leash. But thankfully again, te rott was muzzled. I waited patiently at the field for the rott to walk away, further from my route home. But he lingered around for more than 15 minutes i guess, and i started to lose my patience. Maybe.. the rott is not interested in toff..

So i started my way home. Thankfully, the rott started turning his head away, and walked abt 100m ahead of us. Toff n i walked home very slowly, quietly, pace by pace... n all of a sudden.. the rott turned his head around. I knew he saw us - me and toff. I wanted to flee right away, coz knowing toff's "i-see-dogs-i-kill-them-nature", i'd definitely not want to see him involve in a fight with a rott double his body size.

But it was too late. The rott started jogging towards us. The owner who was so-very-proud of his rott started calling fr behind, "Superman... no.. no... i beat u aaa...wei... hey!!" The rott was deaf to his words. Toff stood on his hindlegs (ready to pounce on the emerging enemy). Running away at this point of time would only worsen things. So i stood firm, held my slippers in my hands, and made toff sit still.

Then Superman arrived at my footsteps. I looked at him - eye-to-eye. Then I said to him, "No." He looked at me, quietly. The owner was walking cum jogging towards us, maybe 50m from us tat time. Suddenly, noti toff pounced onto the rott, expectedly, the rott pounced onto toff, I quickly hit the rott hard everywhere with everything i could, n u could imagine all the growls and huff and puffs breaking the silence of the nite. then the proud owner came and tugged his Superman away.

Phew!! I was angry.
Toff was being noti. Superman couldn't hold his impulses. Toff & Superman were just being dogs.
But the rott owner was overconfident with his Superman. He was not responsible for allowing his rott roam freely. He was not being protective for not chasing his dog after he noticed Superman running towards me n toff. He did not even apologize! He did not even feel sorry!
He was NOT being a man. sad.

IT WAS DOWNRIGHT IRRESPONSIBLE TO WALK YOUR DOG WITHOUT A LEASH, WAT MORE A BIG, HEAVILY-MUSCLED, HUGE-MOUTHED ROTTWEILER! I've handled many many rottweilers before, and I've seen how many of them broke and tore the muzzles. So i know how dangerous it is for a rott to roam freely. Muzzled, or without a muzzle on.

wat if a naughty child bumped unto Superman, mocked him and threw things at him (children very often do these silly stuffs, rite)? Don't tell me tat Superman will stop to think rationally, weighing the advantages and disadvantages of attacking the child. Wat if Superman meets a bitch on heat? So many worse things could happen. Why did the "man" open such unnecessary doors?

Folks out there, please, please (me begging you here), always, always walk your dog on leash. It is simply being a responsible dog-owner for your community. And please, please educate your frineds who have dogs. Irregardless of small or big, or tame or fierce dog, walk them with a leash on.

ps. very often we read in the papers, "rottweilers attack people!". But you know wat? Most of te time, the very culprit was the victim and dog owner, not the dog. The dog was just the scapegoat.

Wow.. i'm speechless. COme to think of it - sometimes dogs can be better friends of men than men can ever be. Stray dogs sommore. Thank God that this took place in India.

Had it been in our country, all stray dogs would have been in "Pusat Kurungan Haiwan xxx" (ready to be put to sleep). A headline such as this will NEVER happen in Malaysia i suppose.

Recently i asked a Taiwanese friend of mine, how do their government handle the stray dog issue? Her reply was simple, "There is no issue at all. Unlike Malaysia, very much the opposite, most Taiwanese are dog lovers. they feed stray dogs.. they love stray dogs. . as their own pets... the vets in Taiwanese are weaker - in the sense tat they choose not to put-to-sleep healthy animals..."

I do not know how true this statement was, but it sure created an interest in me to visit Taiwan.

yep! while they do give me sweats, im not saying tat they're not good. sometimes they're good.. sometimes.. they're just pure BAD. so far... in my life.. as far as i recall.. all the changes have been for goood. yeah. tat's a good news.

firstly, the transitions... fr childhood to teenage to ...gosh... i'm not young anymore. tis is not a good thing. :(

secondly, my study & working places & states & ppl, colleagues & friends & environment... been thru so many changes.. n it's good. kinda eye-opener to me. ;) & it's fun, btw.

thirdly, changing church when i first shifted back to hometown.. boy, it wasnt easy. searching n looking and adapting n trying to fit in. headaches.

now my office has been using cards (paper-works) to file patiet records. and hey.. good news.. we're progressing into a paper-LESS world. (sweat!) n it's reali taking up lots of our time... testing our adaptation skill.. confusion limits.. oh wow.. i sure hope tat it's for good...

here's a cliche to comfort myself: "Changes make you grow, my dear!"
so far the office is stil in a mess.

1. the Inevitability of Faith
Everyone believes in something. Atheists cannot prove there is no God. Faith is unavoidable, even if we choose to believe only in ourselves.

2. the Limitations of Science
The scientific method is limited to that which is measurable and repeatable. By definition, it cannot speak to issues of ultimate origin, meaning, or morality. Science by itself offers no moral guidance or values to govern our lives. All science can do is show us how natural law works, while telling us nothing about its origins.

An evolutionary explanation of life would not make God unnecessary. I've seen a few cases of prodigies ended up in sad cases (dun ask me to name them, i dun have a computer's memory), and this is just one of it. I'm saddened.

How many years in our lifetime do we have, to be a child? They maybe smart, exceptionally talented, genius, yes... but aren't they still a child? Why rob away their childhood? Childhood is one of the sweetest phase we ever have in our lifetime. Don't we agree?

While we may be trying our best to bring the best out of the child, for all we know, we may be bringing the worst out of the child in her later years.

Just let a child be a child. Think about it.

Places of worship and schools to pay only RM1

how i'd love to be a child again.

For the past 2 days, i've had bad fever, flu, running nose, cough, sorethroat (anything, you name it) and literally lost my voice. It was so bad, i took panadol and cough syrups (ppl who knows me well knows tat i run away from drugs as far as i could, even when i'm sick).

Yesterday was just as bad. As usual before I went to bed, i said a short prayer to my Father in heaven, including asking him to heal me. Then i slept. Peacefully.

In the middle of the night, i heard soft knocks on my door.. i wasn't quite sure whether it was real, or just my dream. So i left the door knocking for some time, till i finally woke up, sat up, and listened. Then i heard my mom's voice calling me softly from behind the door.

I slid down my bed and opened the door. There my mom was standing, her eyes tired, hands holding a cup of herbal tea. I was sleepy, so all i did was thanked her simply, drank the tea and went straight to my bed.

This morning, my mom woke me up when the sky was still dark, and asked me to drink her herbal tea again. I got up, saw her weary eyes and I was really touched, i wanted to hug her and peck her on the cheeks immediately but it was not a norm.. yet.

Just now, as i talked to my mom, she told me tat it took her almost an hour knocking on my door before i got up. And my bad, loud coughs woke her up. AN HOUR!! CALLING SOFTLY... I was really touched, and thankful to God for giving me my mom.. how blessed am i..

I felt like I was back to my childhood... where my parents were always by my side, waking me up to take medications.. bringing me to the doc.. caring for me.. but now i'm a grown up.

wat do i do?

there is this man, who always looked like a drunkard, with his uncombed-messed-up hair & beard with torn shirt and pants tat visits my clinic once a while. The first time i saw him, i treated his dog & his dog eventually recovered. He takes care of stray dogs. Few days later, he sent flowers to the clinic.

Some time later, i began feeling more and more insecure whenever he's in the clinic, coz he's a bad tempered man who really loves dogs and always appeared drunken. Everytime he speaks, his head was wobbling up n down, left or right, it's as tho' his head was so heavy. When he speaks, he doesn't look at you, he'll look at another place and still talk to you (as though he's looking at you). So i requested to my boss tat i would not consult his cases anymore. Unfortunately, everytime he came, my boss was not there, and i had to consult his cases.

Today he called the clinic, saying tat he wanted to see my face!!! I can't face him. There is this strong instinct within me tat's calling me to avoid him as much as i could. I even requested that when I'm alone in the clinic I would not open the door for him. But how do i ignore someone who's pressing the door bell??? If i looked out at the person pressing the doorbell, then he would see me! How can i not open the door then?!

Malaysian Election 2008

March 8 is finally here!

I'm anxious, excited. With the nationwide prayers going on, I believe that Malaysia will be heading for a better government now. God willing. More oppositions in the parliament. More voices from the public. More transparency. More corruption cases disclosed and ACTIONS TAKEN AGAINST THEM. More righteous leaders upheld. More discussions before dumping millions & billions of tax payers' ringgit into the drain/dustbin. (btw, does anyone remember wat happened to the indelible ink issue?)

starting afresh!

yes! tat's exactly wat i'm gona do. for the past few weeks i've been terribly lazy, being my indolent self.. my resolution timetable which i made in the beginning of the year obviously have lost its function/purpose. I was just not interested in it anymore!

But now, I've started anew. Fresh! yes..

i've just rediscovered my passion in colour pencils.. and drew myself a beautiful timetable to follow... coloured it.. and wow.. i cant help but to smile at it.

I rediscovered one of my passions! Wat else am I passionate for? I shall rediscover them one after another.. with God's help, I know I'll rediscover them. My... i sounded like i've just lost myself, and rediscovered it.. gulp!

and I've resolved. Whatever I do, i'll not do it half heartedly. Instead I'll go in full-force! in everything i do!

What Clothes Do You Wear?

He (Adam) answered. "I heard you in the garden, and I was afraid because I was naked; so i hid." And he (God) said, "Who told you that you were naked? Have you eaten from the tree that I commanded you not to eat from?" The man (Adam) said, "The woman you put here with me - she gave me some fruit from the tree and I ate it." ~ Genesis 3:10-12

Nakedness in this story is symbolic for sin. Adam and Eve were now sinners. So God makes clothes out of animal skins to cover them up. What happened to the animals in order to make these clothes? They had to die. One of the animals Adam had just named had to be killed.

Unless we accept the clothes given to us by Jesus, we are never going to be acceptable to God, because they are the only ones that can cover up sin. Some people think they will be okay with God because they do a lot of good things, they might even go to church or temples, but that is trying to cover ourselves with "fig leaves" like Adam and Eve made for themselves.

There are also those people who think "hiding in the bushes" is somehow going to make God irrelevant. Go through life ignoring God, putting Him off, and never really getting around to committing their lives to Him, but eventually they will stand before God and be exposed for the sinners they are.

Then there are people who like to make excuses why they never heed the call to repentance. Too busy... guys' got to have some fun in life... or Christians are just a bunch of self-righteous hypocrites anyway.

None of these excuses are going to wash with a Holy God. One day all mankind is going to stand before God and be judged by the clothes they are wearing.

Jonker street - cny08

Another CNY is gone.. tis year only me, papa n vin went to melaka - visited our relatives.. from house to houses.. and the 2nd night we went to jonker's street. Surely i dun have to describe all the deco n atmosphere.. the pictures speaks for itself. :)
It was a thursday, so the streets were still "open" to cars, which was quite dangerous.. but the passengers in the cars were enjoying the night scenery from behind their windows. As for us, it was a hot n humid day, but thank God it was windy - you know, the Spring Breeze (chun fong). It was fun..

After abt 2-hours' walk, we went to have my fav prawn mee.. but sadly bo-liao.. then asam laksa.. also bo-liao... wat to do... it's getting late.. so gotta do with the only remaining curry laksa... + cendol as dessert. :) luv them. :)

This is "The Geographer" cafe - i remembered years ago i've been there with my college frens and i drank my first irish coffee there. It was very bitter, tho' the name and look of the coffee was tempting, and it was pricey i remember, RM11++ for a cup of coffee. Anyway, it was a bad try, i couldn't even finish 5% of it. I guess bcoz it contained some % of wine, n i jz couldn't stand the smell of wine. Any wine.
It was quite a nice place for young n olds to hang out, esp during the cny mood, just look at the crowd! n the oldies they play.. it just mesmerizes the ppl there. :)

Bibles confiscated at LCCT.

I thought Malaysia offers "religious freedom" to its citizens? Wat was in the Customs officer's mind? I'm glad tat Datuk Fu has been just in these matters. =)

Fu: Seized Bible copies returned to owner

PUTRAJAYA: Copies of the Bible taken from a woman at the Low Cost Carrier Terminal recently have been returned to her, Deputy Internal Security Minister Datuk Fu Ah Kiow said.
He said the that English Bible was confiscated by a Customs officer from the woman who had just returned from a visit to Manila.

He said it did not involve the ministry.

“The Customs officer has no authority to do so and on being told of the matter, we asked the Bible to be returned immediately to the person,” he said.

Fu said the incident should not have taken place, adding that he had clarified the matter with the Council of Churches Malaysia (CCM).

He said the address of the person was taken but no telephone number was noted down and as a result, the ministry had to wait for the person to call to collect the books.
He was responding to a statement by the CCM secretary-general Rev Dr Hermen Shastri that a Malaysian Christian had her Bibles taken away by Customs at the airport.

Shastri said that the unilateral actions of certain government agencies were undermining the Government’s stated claims of protecting religious freedom in the country.

Last month, Fu ordered Christian children’s books with drawings of prophets to be returned to a bookshop in Kuala Lumpur after the books were seized by a unit in the ministry.

Indelible ink to make its mark

Each polling stream in the coming general election will get two bottles of indelible black ink that will be applied to the left forefinger of voters. What is the WHOLE purpose behind this ink's usage???

Besides India, Wan Ahmad said the Philippines, Indonesia and many developing countries – especially those in Africa – also used indelible ink to prevent election fraud. SO? What's the exact purpose? How does it prevent election fraud? Where goes the purpose of our smart MYKAD? btw, do the Philippines, Indonesia, African nations citizens have something like MYKAD?

Wan Ahmad said only a small mark would be made on the finger and the ink would stay for about two weeks. So the ink will stay on OUR finger for 2 weeks. Wat right has he got to "decorate" the citizens' finger?

For this general election, the commission said it would need 48,000 bottles of the ink. This will cost RM2.4mil and the whole procedure will take less than RM1mil to implement. RM2.4mil + RM1mil = RM3.4mil. We could have done so many things to help the poor and develop the economy n nation with such amount of money! Why are these people always looking out for ways to waste away the tax-payers' hard-earned money?

First with the "astronaut" program. So we spent the money. One of the malaysians has been up to the moon. So what? Did it bring us any good besides bringing us pride? btw, wat is there to be proud of.. we're barely a "passenger" on the trip to the moon. Anyway, back to the main issue - didn't the cabinet discuss abt this in the first place? Have they ever wondered why only developing countries are using this "ink" system and NOT developed nations like Singapore, US, Great Britain, Aus?

We are already infamous for changing national policies frequently, and most of the time, unnecessarily. I remembered very well when i was still a student, the education ministry necessitated us to speak Bahasa Malaysia baku during exams, then they changed it to Bahasa Melayu, and later they thought Bahasa Malaysia will sound better. Then we have a beautiful national song Negaraku. One day someone smart thought tat the tempo was too boring, so the entire nation agreed (no choice) to a "rock" Negaraku, then someone complained tat it's not patriotic enough so we changed our tempo again.

Is a national issue something so insignificant tat it can be changed easily every now and then so long as those in authority are happy? Do the authorities ever realize how much valuable time n money we spend every time there's any slight changes in the national policies?

I do hope they cancel this "ink mark" process ASAP, before the general election comes. If they do not cancel it now, years down the road I'm pretty sure they'll abort this system anyhow. It'll make no difference, except tat every 5 years we'll dump a few millions of ringgit into "somewhere". Anywhere.
