It always breaks my heart when a dog is killed.. just becoz he's a dog. :'(

Soap Star Suicide Shines Light on Pit Bull Prejudice

The entertainment world was shocked this week at the news of the suicide of 47-year-old actor Nick Santino. The actor, who had appeared on All My Children and The Guiding Light, was found in his apartment after overdosing on pills on his birthday. His suicide note revealed the cause of his tragedy. It read, “Today I betrayed my best friend. Rocco trusted me and I failed him. He didn’t deserve this.”

Rocco was Nick’s pet pit bull, who he had rescued from a shelter several years ago. They lived in a condo on New York’s Upper West Side, and had recently been having run-ins with the condo board. In 2010, the condo board instituted a rule expressly forbidding pit bulls to live in the building. The rule did not affect Nick as he had moved into the building before 2010, but neighbors said the building management harassed him constantly about his dog. Nick was not allowed to use the main elevator or leave the dog alone in the apartment for more than nine hours at a time.

Finally, after threats of fines and constant pressure from neighbors and management, Nick had Rocco put to sleep. The next day, wracked with guilt, Nick took his own life.

The condo board has denied any responsibility in the deaths, and other factors were involved. A veterinarian had told Nick that Rocco had become somewhat more aggressive, though no incidents had been reported. Nick also had suffered from depression. He may have felt particularly bonded to his rescued pit, as he himself had been raised in an orphanage and bounced around from foster home to foster home in his youth. Lately, his acting jobs were becoming more infrequent, and the harassment over his dog may have been what put him over the edge.

It’s impossible to pin the tragedy on any one thing, but it’s hard to ignore the pressure the condo board put on Nick Santino building that pushed him into making a terrible decision—when his dog had been guilty of nothing except being a pit bull. On his last day, Nick gave away Rocco’s bed and rawhide bones to another dog owner in the building and gave the doorman a box of treats to distribute to the rest of the building’s dogs.

Both Rocco and Nick were cremated, and Nick’s family has said they will be interred together.

Taliban militants on Wednesday shot dead Pakistan's only Christian government minister for challenging a law that mandates the death penalty for insul

I was reading the news a few days ago when suddenly a title drew disgust and indignant from within me. The title reads, "Taliban militants on Wednesday shot dead Pakistan's only Christian government minister for challenging a law that mandates the death penalty for insulting Islam"

Surely, what is the use/ meaning of "religion" or "God" when hatred and killings are birthed from this "religion" or "God".

If you have a choice, would you want your "GOD" to be a commander that demands everyone that talks bad about him killed (e.g. similar to Hitler, old Chinese emporers)...

or would you prefer a God that loves even His enemy that He will die for this enemy?

Think about it. This news saddens me, but a scripture quickly came into my mind.

"The kingdom of heaven is like a man who sowed good see in his field; but while men slept, his enemy came and sowed tares among the wheat and went his way.

But when the grain had sprouted and produced a crop, then the tares also appeared. So the servants of the owner came and said to him, "Sir, did you not sow good seed in your field? How then does it have tares?

He said to them, "An enemy has done this." The servants said to him, "Do you want us then to go and gather them up?"

But he said, "No, lest while you gather up the tares you also uproot the wheat with them. Let both grow together until the harvest, and at the time of harvest I will say to the reapers, "First gather together the tares and bind them in bundles to burn them, but gather the wheat into my barn."

.... He who sows the good seed is the Son of Man. The field is the world, the good seeds are the sons of the kingdom, but the tares are the sons of the wicked one. The enemy who sowed them is the devil, the harvest is the end of the age, and the reapers are the angels.

Therefore as the tares are gathered and burned in the fire, so it will be at the end of this age. The Son of Man will send out His angels, and they will gather out of His kingdom all things that offend, and those who practice lawlessness, and will cast them into the furnace of fire.

There will be wailing and gnashing of teeth. Then the righteous will shine forth as the sun in the kingdom of their Father. He who has ears to hear, let him hear!" (Matthew 13:24-43)

How sad, and cursed are those who allow themselves to be used by the evil one, for the furnace of fire is awaiting them.

Diagnostic occupation requires good communication skills.

Being in a diagnostic field for some time now, I've roughly captured the gist of my general clientele profile. Communication is a skill, which needs to be learned and applied well in both parties in order to ensure smooth transition of information.

Below is an example of communication problem without information breakdown.

O: my dog has diarrhoea.
m: how bad? watery or porridge-like?
O: one piece, solid one.
m: that's not diarrhoea...
O: that's not diarrhoea mea?

Pure shiba inu for adoption or buy at cheap price

"Pure Shiba Inu for adoption or buy at cheap price" or

"Champion shiba inu at a reasonable price for sale"

I'm sure if I post something similar to the above titles in facebook, i'll be getting tons of reply enquiring and bargaining - they're all interested.

What if I add "mixed" or "cross" i.e. Shiba inu cross for adoption, FREE - whatdo you think the response would be? Yes... there will be zero response. They may say, "Cute dog!" but no body will offer to adopt him.

That's mankind. We look and judge according to outward appearance and status. Fame, beauty and wealth are all tat matters to most people. However, God says otherwise in His Word, “For the LORD does not see as man sees; for man looks at the outward appearance, but the LORD looks at the heart.” (1 Samuel 16:7)

How true it is! A word said 2000 years ago is still true and applicable today!

Judge yourself today. Do you remember people by…

1. Their outward appearance – their costume, jewelleries, handbags, shoes etc?
2. Their wealth – the credit cards they use, houses, cars, how many times a year do they travel for holiday etc?
3. Their status – do they carry a reverend, datuk, tun, tan sri, dr before their surname? What area do they live in? What breed of dog do they buy/keep?
4. Their fame – how many people know them? Their popularity?

Or do you remember people by…
1. How they talk/ treat the less privileged people/animals?
2. Are they “in-touch” with charity organizations?
3. their integrity? Life principles?
4. Their character/ attitude?

Judge yourself today.

May She Rest in Peace - a suggested prayer

Father,

it seems that anxiety and doubt are constant companions right now. This valley seems so deep and so dark. By faith, I choose to trust You, my Shepherd. I am so tired, Father. Will You please carry me?

I cannot see what is ahead. Will You please guide me?

I am discouraged and ready to quit. Will You please be my strength?

I love You and want to please You with my life.

Empower me to be all You created me to be.

In Jesus' name, Amen.

Police reports lodged against Tony Pua

*How can the people expect the country to grow when the people's mindset never grow?

Police reports lodged against Tony Pua

AMPANG JAYA: A total of 22 Umno youth divisions in Selangor lodged police reports simultaneously Wednesday against Petaling Jaya Utara MP Tony Pua.

Selangor Umno Youth information chief Sufarizul Mustafa said the reason for the police reports were due to the MP’s suggestion recently to scrap the discount for bumiputras when purchasing commercial properties and luxury homes in the state.

"The MP's suggestion can be considered insensitive and provocative in nature.
"It also challenges the Article 153 of the Federal Constitution (which safeguards the special position of Malays and bumiputra) and is an offence under the Sedition Act," he said after lodging a police report at the Ampang Jaya district police station at 11.35am.

He urged the authorities to act on the matter quickly to avoid jeopardising the peace among the races in the country.
DAP MP Pua recently suggested that the state government abolish the bumiputra discount for purchase of houses costing more than RM500,000 and commercial property costing more than RM2mil.

The entire family died (except mr daddy)

[continued from previous post]

It's already been four days, and Yumi has not called me. In fact, the person whom wanted to adopt mommy shih tzu has called me twice.

What happened? Did she manage to give birth? How many puppies? Was it a natural birth or caesarean? What's the uncle's decision? Why didn't she call?

I waited patiently for Yumi's call. Day after day.

This morning as I was busy with my morning errands, suddenly the corner of my eyes caught glimpse of a vey familiar silhouette outside the clinic - it's Yumi Quah! I rushed to the door, and invited her in (as if I'm an usher there). "How's the dog? How's the mommy shih tzu?"

She looked away. Her husband chipped in, "She died."

"Haaaah?" I deliberately exagerrated the aghast tone. "What happened? Where are the babies?"
"Everyone died. She was having difficulty to give birth, so my uncle sent her to a clinic, and they cut her open, tried to rescue the eight puppies, but all died eventually. HAM-Ka-CHAN (cantonese, literally translated means whole family die)."

"HAAAHHH?!' I pretended a slight faint. "How could that happen?" The uncle's finally got what he wanted - the mommy shih tzu's death.

"We don't know.. it just happened."

I closed my eyes. Sad, frustrated, sad. Gloom.
I could hear the thunders crackling within, the rain was evident in my eyes.

Does she want to get mommy shih tzu adopted?

[continued from previous post]

GOOD NEWS!!

I've got someone who's willing to adopt the pregnant shih tzu, now it's just a call away from the real owner's nod.

I quickly looked through the files, and there! Yumi Quah (not her real name). I quickly called her... I was so excited and anxious that I felt the dial tones for once was absolutely a nuisance.

"Hello, who's this?" I heard a voice at the end of the line.

"Hey, you remember me? I've got someone to adopt your uncle's pregnant shih tzu! Where's your dog now?" I exclaimed.

"Err... i've got to ask my uncle first... can she come over to Seremban?"

I was dumbfounded. Seremban is an hour plus' drive away from here. "Can you ask your uncle to send her here instead, since it's really difficult for you to get an adopter.. and now you've got the chance of a lifetime...."

"I've got to discuss it with him first."

My excitement faded. My eyes turned to the prospective adopter's. She raised her eyebrows. I closed my eyes and hung up the phone. "She'll call me again."

What do you do when your dog is pregnant?

What will your reaction be when you realize that your dog is pregnant?
But you don't know who the mr daddy is.
As The-Day approaches, how would you feel? What will run through your mind?
---
"2 more days, she'll be due.... My uncle has decided to throw her away, or give her away..."
"WHAT?!!!" I exclaimed, in exaggerated disgust.
"My uncle doesn't like the fuss, he's into large breed dogs now, like dobermann, german shepherds... shih tzu is no longer his cup of tea..."
I slowly shook my head in obvious disgust. Eyes narrowed. "People like him do not deserve dogs."
"He just called me this morning asking me to take over the dog otherwise he'll deal with it himself..."

I continued turning my head left and right in small angles. Eyes shut. Speechless.

"What do I do now??!!" My client was frustrated.
"What will you do?" I opened my eyes.

i CANT stand it!

it's ok to be ignorant. Sometimes, it's even ok to be stupid.

To be ignorant, and insisting that you're correct when you don't have the facts makes people wonder of the level of your intelligence.

But to be ignorant, even after being supplied with the facts, even after being repeatedly informed by the professionals and still insisting that you're correct is INTOLERABLE@! Indescribable!

"are you sure? are you sure" with the annoying look, duh!! I need to hide away from these people.

the outcome...

I did get lost. First.. on my way to bukit bintang, I somehow landed in an absolute jungle - ampang. I could find no direction to bukit bintang. And signboards... were useless. All I could see was, Ampang Jaya, Pekan Ampang, pandan jaya (where's tat??!) . Hey... where's tat signboard to lead me out of this jungle?!! I was very demotivated, having trapped in my little vehicle, in the midst of a JAM.... one wrong turn, and i was stuck in the same place for half an hour.

Forget the torment, thank God all of a sudden I decided to make an illegal right turning - had all the cars honking and yelling (abit exaggerated here just to express my feelings) having to make way for this little vehicle crossing the double lanes. Anyway, then I decided to park my car and go home. No, not for ting's wedding. So I went to look for some good samaritans - and I found a couple!! They were so nice.. even drew a map to get me out of this jungle.

Praise God, I finally got out. Then i headed on to bukit bintang... and all of a sudden, Times Square was on my right. Cars and people were everywhere. Gosh.. I just got myself landed in another jungle!!! I know some of you locals reading this now may say - rusa masuk kampung. well tat's exactly the feeling i had then. It's not tat i've not been to bukit bintang, on foots I could find my way almost to every part of bkt bintang. with a driver, the roads in bkt bintang seemed to be so well organized, in order.

But tat's not the case when I was behind the wheels. Having decided few hours ago tat I would take this challenge on my own (rejecting an offer to drive me) I decided to depend on the map in my hand, and the signboards. Heck, all signboards there are useless!! And honestly, a GPS then would be so darn helpful. Anyway, i followed the road signs to jalan bukit bintang, jalan imbi.. and after a few rounds i realized tat i'd never get out of this maize. So i called my fren - who led me out of the maize amidst the jams in 45 minutes, phew!! I had wanted to turn back to jalan tun razak soOOOooo many times, but my fren was patient, kept assuring me, "you're almost there.. almost there.." when in fact I reached the destination in 30 minutes.

Not because i was far from the destination, but because of the JAMS. And I realized one thing - it's all one way street in bukit bintang!!! Wat a nightmare!!! I missed a few turnings, and i had to repeat the jam cycle once again. Oh, not forgetting I did alot of illegal turnings. Oh, cameras, please don't spot me!!

THank God, I finally arrived.

Bukit Bintang - one day I'm gonna conquer you! HARRRGGGHHH!!!!

And the way back home - it's another haul.

Forgiven Much - gwen smith

Source: Girlfriends in God
Forgiven Much - Gwen Smith

Today's Truth

"Blessed is the man whose sin the Lord does not count against him." Psalm 32:2

Luke 7 introduces us to a woman who endured her shame publicly. She was guilty of something, though we are never told what. She is simply described as a woman "who had lived a sinful life." Though she is nameless to you and me, the people of her town surely knew her name. The Pharisees knew enough to condemn her with judgmental thoughts.
Her sin was public, not private. Yet, the public disgrace of this broken, sinful woman became the perfect canvas for Jesus Christ to paint a beautiful picture of extravagant grace.

"Now one of the Pharisees invited Jesus to have dinner with him, so he went to the Pharisee's house and reclined at the table. When a woman who had lived a sinful life in that town learned that Jesus was eating at the Pharisee's house, she brought an alabaster jar of perfume, and as she stood behind him at his feet weeping, she began to wet his feet with her tears. Then she wiped them with her hair, kissed them and poured perfume on the." (Luke 7:36-38, NIV).

Imagine what a scandalous moment this must have been. I'm sure the host was wondering how this uninvited woman managed to get into his home. We know his mind was racing, because the next few verses tell us.

When the Pharisee who had invited him saw this, he said to himself, "If this man were a prophet, he would know who is touching him and what kind of woman she is--that she is a sinner."

Jesus answered him, "Simon, I have something to tell you."

"Tell me, teacher," he said.

"Two men owed money to a certain moneylender. One owed him five hundred denarii, and the other fifty. Neither of them had the money to pay him back, so he canceled the debts of both. Now which of them will love him more?"

Simon replied, "I suppose the one who had the bigger debt canceled."

"You have judged correctly," Jesus said.

Then he turned toward the woman and said to Simon, "Do you see this woman? I came into your house. You did not give me any water for my feet, but she wet my feet with her tears and wiped them with her hair. You did not give me a kiss, but this woman, from the time I entered, has not stopped kissing my feet. You did not put oil on my head, but she has poured perfume on my feet. Therefore, I tell you, her many sins have been forgiven--for she loved much. But he who has been forgiven little loves little."

Then Jesus said to her, "Your sins are forgiven." (Luke 7:39-48)

Imagine the freedom that flooded her soul when this woman looked up, through tear-filled eyes, into the face of grace for the very first time. Jesus looked beyond her reputation to her regret. Then He forgave her. Not because she had earned forgiveness, but because Jesus loved her.

She was forgiven much, so she loved Him much. Oh, how I can relate to this sinful woman. The love that resides in my heart is so great because the sins I've been forgiven of are so many.

Jesus still loves to extend grace, and I am so thankful. Grace! What none of us deserves, but each of us longs for. Philip Yancey in his book, What's So Amazing about Grace?, wrote:
Grace does not excuse sin, but it treasures the sinner. True grace is shocking, scandalous. It shakes our conventions with its insistence on getting close to sinners and touching them with mercy and hope. It forgives the unfaithful spouse, the racist, the child abuser. It loves today's AIDS-ridden addict as much as the tax collector of Jesus' day.
In his book 3:16, The Numbers of Hope, Max Lucado writes, "The heart of the human problem is the heart of the human. And God's treatment is prescribed in John 3:16." You have probably heard this verse since you were a child -- the verse scribbled on cardboard signs and held up at sporting events. The verse that gives hope to each and every one of us: "For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life" (John 3:16).

Why would He lay down His life for you, for me, and for all humanity? In one word: love. Perfect, unconditional, doesn't-matter-who-you-are-or-where-you've-been-or-what-you've-done love. God made a new and living way through the blood shed by Jesus Christ so our wounded hearts could be restored.

LET'S PRAY
Heavenly Father, You are above all and beyond all! You are mighty to save, gracious to forgive, and merciful to forget all that I've done wrong. I praise You for who You are, and thank You for the grace that is at work in my heart and in my life. Help me cast aside everything that keeps me from You today, Lord.

In Jesus' Name, I pray.

Amen.

Are you a stumbling block to others?

Yesterday I was watching ntv7 where an aged HK actress Helena was decribing the whereabouts of Vatican, and she mentioned things about her faith (Catholics). I watched excitedly as she explained the history behind the churches' buildings there, how they run things there, Mother Theresa and etc. But the show lost me when she raised an issue about her occupation, as an actress.

She remembered that years ago a friend of hers once asked her, "You're a Catholic, a believer of God and Jesus Christ, but you've played so many characters as sorcerers and many ghost movies which contradicts your faith, isn't that bad?"

She felt really bad when she heard this question, so she went to consult a priest/father (Paderi Feng). To my horror, this was his response.

Priest: Are you an actress?
Helena: Yes.
Priest: So, what does that have to do with your faith? You're just doing your job. Just do it!
And Helena was relieved.

Do you really think that what she did was right? She's an actress, but she CAN CHOOSE which type of movie to act in. Say, a pornography actress. If this pastor is confronted with the same question and gives the same response, I'll faint.

"Do not cause anyone to stumble..." Thus says the Holy Bible, 1Corinthians 10:32.

Remember, we are all created by God, and thus to God we shall return. Whether Christian or Catholics, we are all FIRST, the child of God. Second, whatever role you play on Earth, and that includes being an actress, you shall abide and remain in God's words.

I repeat, we are FIRST - a child of God. This means that whatever we do, especially in our daily day life and career, we should abide by God's words - the Holy Bible.

By acting as sorcerers and performing magics in movies, she has become a stumbling block to many of her viewers. And that, needs to be rectified.

To make things worse, the priest/paderi gave a response which was against what the Holy Bible says. He's merely trying to satisfy Helena, not God.

His response stirred a question in my heart: How close was His walk with God?

Khalid unveils Datuk Seri Dr Mohd Khir Toyo's travel expenses

Khalid unveils list of ex-MB’s travel expenses

(Source: thestar online)
By WANI MUTHIAH and EDWARD RAJENDRA

SHAH ALAM: Selangor Mentri Besar Tan Sri Khalid Ibrahim made more revelations at the State Assembly yesterday, giving a summary of the travel expenses incurred by former Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Dr Mohd Khir Toyo.

Khalid, who was replying to Bukit Antarabangsa assemblyman Azmin Ali on the quantum of the travel expenses, said RM349,134 had been spent on the Mentri Besar’s overseas trips to 21 destinations from 2001 to January 2008. RM350 000 on travelling alone!!! I thought we still have so many poverty issues down here?

He added that RM19,563 and RM19,735 were spent in 2001 and 2002 respectively on air fares to London. I wonder how a person can spend RM40 000 on air flights alone. I wouldn't care if he's using his own pocket money.. but he's claiming it from the people's pocket!!!

The then Mentri Besar also spent RM49,874.50 to fly to Tokyo, Guangzhou, Kunming, Osaka, Fukuoka and London in 2003 and RM74,972.00 in 2004 to go to Bangkok, Dubai, London, Beijing, Amsterdam, Milan and Venice. This guy truly makes me gawk with wonders...

This was followed by RM41,064.00 in 2005 to visit Paris, Geneva, Toronto, Los Angeles and Dubai and RM91,466.00 in 2006 to go to Seoul, Chicago, London, Amsterdam. Stuttgart, Beijing, Shahghai, Osaka and Tokyo. Oh help me.. I can't possibly read on...

A sum of RM20,231.00 was spent in 2007 to go to Perth, Seoul and Taipei and RM32,229.00 in January last year for a trip to London. While people are eyeing for discounts and promotions to fly to these places... he's taking RM50 000 of the people's money to do so...

Khalid said the travel agency which arranged the trips in 2006 and 2007 was Green Adventure Holidays Sdn Bhd. Holidays???

He said that his office was looking into the expenses incurred for accommodation and other requirements during the trips. Oh.. please do so... I believe the report is not meant for the weak hearted ones...

Khalid also said that the state government had asked Tourism Selangor Sdn Bhd to arrange all official visits undertaken by the state.

Dr Khir was not in the house to reply to the claims. Now this is the most interesting statement of all... why was he not in the house?

GREATEST MATHEMATICAL PROBLEM IN THE WORLD

THE GREATEST MATHEMATICAL PROBLEM IN THE WORLD

Moses and the people were in the desert, but what was he going to do with them. They had to be fed, and fed is what they did, according to the Quartermaster General in the Army. It was reported that Moses would have had 1500 tons of food each day.

Do you know that to bring that much food each day, two freight trains, each a mile long, would be required! Besides you must remember, they were out in the desert, so they would have to have firewood to use in cooking the food. This would take 4000 tons of wood and a few more freight trains, each a mile long just for one day.

And just think, they were forty years in transit and oh yes, they would have to have water. If only they had enough water to drink and wash a few dishes, it would take 11,000.000 gallons each day, and a freight train with tank cars, 1800 miles long, just to bring in water!

And then another thing! They had to cross the Red Sea at night. (They did?) Now, if they went on a narrow path, double file, the line would be 800 miles long and would require 35 days and nights to get through. So there had to be space in the Red Sea, 3 miles wide so that they could walk 5,000 abreast to get over in one night.

But then, there is another problem. Each time they camped at the end of the day, a campground two-thirds the size of Rhode Island was required, or a total of 750 square miles long… Think of it These spaces just for nightly camping.

Do you think Moses figured all this out before he left Egypt? I think not! You see Moses believed in God. God took care of these things for him.

Let us take courage, we have the same God. We think our problems are so big.

Remember what God can do!

Forgiveness Vs. Reconciliation

Forgiveness Vs. Reconciliation

"Never pay back evil for evil to anyone. Respect what is right in the sight of all men. If possible, so far as it depends on you, be at peace with all men." Romans 12:17.

This is an amazing phrase - simple looking, terribly hard in application to be honest. But I'm trying.. still learning... (forever learning one ler...) hehe.. anyway.. this post is not a platform for me to SIGH... so here goes... the rightful content.

Following a series of Daily Encounters on "Forgiveness," a number of readers wanted to know if forgiving another person meant that we have to forget what has happened; or to love and stay with them if they are abusive; or to trust them?

The answer is no, no, no! Let me explain further.

When we have sinned, we need to be reconciled to God,2 but while reconciliation with others is the ideal, it isn't always possible—and sometimes not to be desired. Some teachers argue that forgiveness isn't possible unless the offending person admits what she/he has done and asks for forgiveness of the one they have hurt. If this were true, many of us would be stuck for life for the fact that many people do not, or will not, admit that they have done anything wrong, let alone apologize for it.

Forgiveness is dependent only on the person who has been hurt.

Reconciliation is... read more here.
